Horse Pick of the Day – Best Betting Race on Saturday? Hollywood Park’s 8th Race
May 8, 2010
The best betting race this Saturday is Hollywood Park’s 8th race.
The 8th race at Hollywood Park showcases some very good horses going 1 mile on the turf.
Horse betting fans should take some time and work to find the winner of the 8th at Hollywood Park on Saturday.

1 mile on turf
Tizwest – - 3/1 fair
This 5-year-old son of Gone West takes the blinkers off after they didn’t help him much in his last three. He hasn’t hit the board in 5 straight races and most likely will go off at higher betting odds than the 3 to 1 I’ve assigned to him.
That’s a good thing because he could be sitting on a big race after getting worked over in the Grade III San Simeon in his last. Why? Because he’s got speed in a race lacking speed.
Tizwest can either take the lead or lie right off of Worldly before making a run in the stretch. Trainer Richard Mandella must still have faith in him if he’s even bothering saddling him in this.
Worldly – - 4/1 fair
Worldly almost stole his last race on the front end after carving out a scintillating half-mile in roughly 45 seconds. He could steal this race on the front end if nobody challenges him early, but more than likely he’s going to have to hold off Tizwest for the win money.
Still, the son of Selkirk has 2 victories out of 6 starts on Hollywood Park’s turf course, could be lone speed, and might improve in his second race off of a layoff.
Blue Chagall – - 3/1 fair
The likely favorite for this race is dropping out of the Grade II Arcadia Handicap where he lost by 4 ½ lengths to the brilliant Compari. This field is lacking anything close to being as good as Compari. The one thing to notice about Blue Chagall, however, is that he hasn’t run any faster than either Worldly or Tizwest in his career and may, after so many races against tougher foes, finally be where he should class wise.
He’s up against it because of his running style, but is obviously a player in this race.
Horse Wagering Strategy
The best bet to me is on Tizwest. I will make a bet on Tizwest to win and place. I will also key Tizwest in an exacta over Blue Chagall and Worldly. I will reverse the exacta for less.
I will make a horse bet on Tizwest to finish in all three slots in the trifecta over a box made up of Blue Chagall, Worldly and Argentinian long shot invader, Carry Gulch.
