Horse Bet of the Day – Race 7 on the Turf at Hollywood Park on Thursday Should Provide an Overlay or Two
May 27, 2010
Turf racing at Hollywood Park hasn’t provided the most profitable horse betting wagers lately. That can all change this Thursday when 9 horses line-up in a $25,000 allowance optional claimer going over HollyPark’s lawn.
There doesn’t appear to be a strong favorite. That means that every horse in the race should be going off at fair horse wagering odds.
Horse Bet of the Day

1 1/16th miles on turf
Forthreeforeuclid - – 3/1 fair horse betting odds
This 3-year old colt with a record of 2-1-2 out of 6 lifetime races benefited from the jockey switch back to Rafael Bejarano in his last by producing the best speed rating of his life in a $32,000 allowance. That was also Forthreeforeuclid’s first race at a route of ground. He should definitely improve in his second start at a route of ground and Bejarano, who has been aboard this guy for 4 of his 6 races, should be able to gauge the pace a bit better in this then he did in that last race.
Pinstripe Kid – - 3/1 fair horse betting odds
This fella goes off the claim for trainer A.C. Avila. Avila is winning at a 40% clip at the meet. To make this dude an even more attractive horse to bet is the fact that he’s run close to the par at this level and gets Omar Berrio, Avila’s main guy right now, to jump onto his back. Pinstripe Kid could do very, very well in this race on Thursday.
Teafatiller - – 4/1 fair horse betting odds
After breaking his maiden going 1 mile over the turf, Teafatiller came back with a very nice 4th place finish going 1 1/16th miles on the turf here at Hollywood Park. That familiarity with the turf course should help the son of In Excess in this race. Teafatiller has a slight tactical advantage over his competition as he can stay close to the pace, around a head to a length behind, or stalk, about 3 to 4 lengths behind. Either way, he’s got a shot to grab the win money in this wide-open affair.
Horse Wagering Strategy
I’m going to bet Forthreeforeuclid to win and place. I will play an exacta with Forthreeforeuclid over Teafatiller and Pinstripe Kid. I will reverse for less.
I will play a trifecta with Forthreeforeuclid and Pinstripe Kid over Forthreeforeuclid, Pinstripe Kid, Teafatiller, over ALL.
Good luck!
