Horse Bet of the Day – Cash in on the Grade III Aristides at Churchill Downs on Saturday

Atta Boy Run, who was last seen winning a Grade II on Kentucky Derby Day, figures to be a short-priced favorite when horses take the track for the Grade III Aristides on Saturday.

He’s not the favorite on the morning line but after horseplayers see that Calvin Borel is on his back and that Borel gets the rail, they’re going to bet him, that’s for sure.

Atta Boy Run has been exceptional in his last two races and definitely deserves to be the favorite in the horse racing sportsbook, but I prefer a horse that figures to go off as a value play in the Grade III Aristides.

Riley Tucker – 7/2 morning line horse betting odds

The Steve Asmussen trained Riley Tucker was last seen finishing second in a $75,000 stakes at Indiana Downs. The winner of that race, Chief of Affairs, is a co-favorite along with Atta Boy Run. With Atta Boy Run and Chief of Affairs ding-donging it on the front-end, this race should definitely set up for stalker Riley Tucker who has the ability to close from 4 to 5 lengths in this race.

Tucker, in fact, is the best stalker/closer in this field.

Cash Refund – 2/1 morning line horse betting odds

Although Cash Refund is listed as the favorite on the morning line, there’s no way that the Stephen Margolis trainee goes off favored over Atta Boy Run. Cash Refund will be ridden by B.J. Hernandez. Hernandez doesn’t have the same reputation as Calvin Borel.

The horse is also coming off of a lay-off and just might not be as classy as Atta Boy Run. Still, Cash Refund should be able to lay about a length off of a speed duel between Atta Boy Run and Chief of Affairs. At that point, holding off Riley Tucker might be tough to do.

Cassoulet – 15/1 morning line horse betting odds

If Atta Boy Run and Chief of Affairs go after each other early, then Cash Refund and Cassoulet figure to be in the garden spot. Cassoulet is not as classy as some of his other foes in here, but he has won 2 out of 3 over the Churchill Downs racing strip and he has shown the ability to track the speed and pounce.

Trainer James Baker is winning at a 30% clip at the meet.

I like Riley Tucker a lot in this race because of the expected pace and will bet him to win and place. I will also play an exacta with Riley Tucker over Cassoulet, Cash Refund, Atta Boy Run and Chief of Affairs. I will reverse for less.

I will bet a trifecta with Riley Tucker over Cassoulet, Cash Refund, Atta Boy Run and Chief of Affairs over ALL. I will bet another trifecta with Cassoulet, Cash Refund over Riley Tucker, Atta Boy Run, Chief of Affairs, over ALL.
