Horse Bet of the Day – Build Your Bankroll For the Belmont Stakes By Cashing in on the 7th at Belmont

The Belmont Stakes is the race that every horseplayer in the world will probably be looking to bet on Saturday, but most of my horse race betting to win money will be on a gal running in Race 7 at Belmont Park.

Race 7 is the Grade I Just A Game Stakes.  The horse I like figures to go off at a fair price after losing to Phola in her last.

4-Fantasia – - 5/1 morning line horse betting odds

Proviso, who is coming off of a nose victory over the boys in the Grade I Frank E. Kilroe Mile, is the favorite in this race.  Fantasia is the longest shot on the board in this 6 horse race.  She has an excuse in her last as she hopped at the start.  She still managed to finish 4th by only 1 length.  In the race before, she lost by only a length to Keertana.  Trainer Jonathan Shepherd is a capable grass trainer who should have Fantasia ready to show her best in her 3rd start off of a layoff.

3-Phola – - 3/1 morning line horse betting odds

Phola has won 3 races in a row including beating Fantasia in her last.  Phola has the ability to stay closer to the pace then it looks on paper, has an exceptional turn of foot and can run over yielding or firm turf.  The expected rains on Friday night should only help her cause.  Beware this Todd Pletcher filly that has gotten really, really good lately.
5-Proviso – - 8/5 morning line odds

She’s the deserving favorite because she beat a bunch of really good male horses in her last race.  That’s all well and good, but this field isn’t full of slouches and taking 8 to 5 on Proviso to win just doesn’t seem like the smart thing to do to me.  I’m going to go ahead and skip using her on top even though everything the racing form says it’s a mistake but I don’t have enough guts not to keep her in the exotics.

Horse Betting Strategy

Fantasia figures in this race.  I’ll bet her to win and place.  I’m also going to key her in a big exacta over Phola and Proviso.  I will reverse that exacta for less.

Finally, I’m gong to play a straight Daily Double with 5-D’Funnybone in Race 6 over Fantasia in Race 7.
