The New Orleans Hornets, Orlando Magic and San Antonio Spurs all hit the hardwood as basketball betting favorites in early hoops action on Wednesday, January 9th.

Feb. 9th– NBA Games
** Records and stats not counting Tuesday night games.
New Orleans Hornets (32-21) at New Jersey Nets (15-37)
Where: Prudential Center, Newark, New Jersey
When: 7:00 pm EST
NBA Odds: New Orleans -2
Analysis: The trends actually favor the Nets to cover the basketball betting spread in this game. New Jersey is 4 and 0 ATS in their last 4 games versus a team from the Western Conference. They’re also 7 and 0 against the spread in their last 7 games versus a team with a winning straight up record. New Orleans is 1 and 5 straight up in their last 6 games and 0 and 6 against the spread in their last 6. They figure to get out of the funk soon, however. Why not get out versus one of the worst teams in the NBA? I just don’t see N.O. blowing the spread versus the Nets on Wednesday night.
Orlando Magic (32-20) at Philadelphia 76’ers (23-27)
Where: Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
When: 7:00 pm EST
NBA Odds: Orlando -1 ½
Analysis: Orlando has been somewhat awful versus the online sports betting spread in their last few games. The Magic is 1 and 5 ATS in their last 6 and Philly is 15 and 9 against the spread at home this season, but I feel that the against the spread line is way too short on Orlando in this contest. The Magic is the better team and Philadelphia, as good as they have been versus the spread at home this season, has come down to earth some. I expect the Magic to win a close one, but definitely to win by more than 2 points unless Superman isn’t capable of putting his cape on by himself.
San Antonio Spurs (42-8) at Toronto Raptors (14-37)
Where: Air Canada Center, Toronto, Ontario
When: 7:00 pm EST
NBA Odds: San Antonio -7
Analysis: The Spurs face their “trap game” on Tuesday night when they take on the Detroit Pistons. Toronto shouldn’t be close to San Antonio in the second half on Wednesday night. The Raptors are a horrible 3 and 7 versus the NBA odds spread in their last 10 games. San Antonio is the best team in the NBA right now and Toronto’s D gives up 104.9 points per game while allowing teams to shoot 48.3% against them. Those are the Raptors’ defensive averages per contest. You’ve got to figure that San Antonio will do much better than that on Wednesday night.
