Hitting the Postseason on a Roll – Atlanta at Memphis

April 15, 2009

The Atlanta Hawks (47-34 SU, 43-37-1 ATS, 38-41-2 O/U) and the Memphis Grizzlies (23-58 SU, 37-43-1 ATS, 39-43 O/U) will both be looking to finish strong in the BetOnline Sportsbook when they square off tonight at FedExForum at 8 PM ET.

The Hawks won their fourth consecutive game on Tuesday, beating the Miami Heat 81-79 but failing to cover the spread as 9.5-point home favorites.

Veteran guard Ronald Murray scored 17 points off the bench to lift the Hawks to victory as the teams played under the 192-point Over/Under total.

The Memphis Grizzlies dropped their second consecutive game on Monday night, losing to the Phoenix Suns 119-110 and narrowly failing to cover the spread as 8-point road underdogs.

Athletic forward Hakim Warrick had a team-high 26 points and nine boards off the bench as the teams played Over the 221.5-point O/U total.

Here is a look at tonight’s key trends, followed by my in-depth analysis and NBA Free Picks.

The Hawks are 7-1-1 ATS in their last 9 vs. Western Conference.

The Hawks are 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record.

NBA Odds

Atlanta Hawks -7½ -110

Memphis Grizzlies +7½ -110

Over 190 -110

Under 190 -110

Analysis: The Atlanta Hawks have covered the spread in five consecutive contests against the grizzlies and I think they have the fire in them to do so again tonight and enter the postseason riding a five-game feel-good winning streak into the postseason.

At least the young Grizzlies found out this season that they have a superstar in the making in rookie shooting guard O.J. Mayo.

NBA Free Picks: Atlanta -7½ Points/Over 190 Total Points
