Hall of Fame Weekend Game Recap

August 10, 2009

The Hall of Fame Weekend Game showed fantasy football team owners their first glimpse into the 2009 season. Both Tennessee and Buffalo played their starting offenses for most of the first quarter which equated to about 2 series per team.

The Titans were first with the ball. Kerry Collins came out strong hitting new aquisition Nate Washington and former Falcon TE Crumpler. The drive ended with a fake punt attempt and rookie punter Trapasso rushing for a 40 yard touchdown. Jeff Fisher knows how to make an otherwise useless game fun.

The Bills came back with Trent Edwards connecting with Terrell Owens with a couple of passes for a combined 27 yards. The drive ended up with an interception but the Bills did show that they want to bring T.O. into the game early and often.

The only other glimpse we got of the starters were in the Titans next series where they featured both running backs: Chris Johnson and LenDale White. Johnson showcased the speed that has made him a top tier running back this season while White came out looking about 20-30 pounds lighter. Both had 6 rushing attempts for 17 and 12 yards respectively. White also added a touchdown.

The final score was Titans 21 – Bills 18.

Here are the fantasy impact points from the game:

  • Kerry Collins looks like a top tier 2 quarterback
  • Chris Johnson is worth a top pick as a starting running back
  • LenDale While is worth a 4th to 5th round pick
  • Who is Xavier Omon?
  • Trent Edwards is not worth a draft pick, neither is Terrell Owens
  • Alge Crumpler looked strong
  • Nate Washington will make a good #2 wide reciever for the Titans and any fantasy team
