Golf Odds – Best Tournament Match-ups in the Verizon Heritage
April 17, 2010
Even without the top names in golf showing up for the Verizon Heritage, the tournament match-ups could lead to profitable golf wagers for sports gamblers.
Tiger, Phil, Lee Westwood and Anthony Kim, four of the top 5 finishers in last week’s Masters Tournament, will all skip this week’s Verizon Heritage at Hilton Head, South Carolina. That’s okay, though, because some big names still surfaced like K.J. Choi, who finished tied for 4th in last week’s Masters Tournament, Jim Furyk and Camilo Villegas.
Here are some of the best tournament match-up wagers in the golf sportsbook for this week’s Verizon Heritage.
Tee-off: 4/15/2010
PGA Tour: Verizon Heritage Tournament Match-ups
** Odds listed in golf sportsbook
- Paul Casey Ev vs. Jim Furyk -130 – - Both Casey and Furyk missed the cut in the Masters last week. Casey has had the better overall 2010 even though Furyk won the Transitions Championship. He’s the better wager in this match-up because he finished tied for 11th in last year’s Verizon Heritage while Furyk missed the cut.
Pick: Paul Casey - KJ Choi -135 vs. Robert Allenby +105 – - Yes, Allenby missed the cut in the 2009 Verizon Heritage and Choi finished tied for 4th in last week’s Masters, but Allenby has had a better overall 2010 with five Top 15 finishes including three Top 5 finishes. Choi hasn’t had a bad tournament yet in 2010, but he’s only finished in the Top 5 twice this year. I also believe he might “bounce” off of that terrific 4th place finish in the Masters Tournament.
Pick: Robert Allenby - Camilo Villegas -120 vs. Robert Allenby -110 – - Villegas didn’t have a very good Verizon Heritage in 2009 but he did make the cut. His 2010 hasn’t been bad at all with a victory in the Honda Classic, a 3rd place finish in the WGC-Accenture and a Top 10 finish in the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Villegas missed the cut in the Arnold Palmer Invitational and finish tied for 38th in the Masters. Other than that, he’s been terrific which makes him the pick to beat Allenby in this tournament match-up.
Pick: Camilo Villegas - Bo Van Pelt -115 vs. Fredrik Jacobsen -115 – - Van Pelt finished tied for 13th in the 2009 Verizon Heritage while Jacobsen finished tied for 37th. Van Pelt’s history at this tournament can’t be ignored as he finished tied for 10th in 2007. He also has 2 Top 25 finishes in 2010. He’s the pick.
Pick: Bo Van Pelt - Bill Haas +105 vs. D.J. Trahan -135 – - Trahan has been on somewhat of a roll lately finishing 7th in the Arnold Palmer Invitational and 11th in the Shell Houston Open. Yes, he missed the cut in the 2009 Verizon Heritage, but he has to be given a chance considering the fact that he’s ranked 7th on the PGA Tour in ball-striking and 4th in scoring average. Haas missed the cut in last year’s Verizon Heritage as well last year and save for his victory in the Bob Hope Classic, Haas hasn’t been playing as well as Trahan. I’m going with the hot golfer in this match-up.
Pick: D.J. Trahan -135
