Go With Yanks to Stump Sox – MLB Betting Action
September 24, 2010
With just three series left to play in the MLB betting season, things are heating up in the races for the postseason. The two most bitter rivals in baseball will collide on Friday night in the Bronx, as the Boston Red Sox will face the New York Yankees.
The Yanks badly needed to take one more game from the Tampa Bay Rays over the weekend. Now, the punishment is that they only hold a 0.5 game lead in the AL East and know that they lose the tiebreaker in the event that these two teams end up tied at the end of the season.

The Red Sox wished New York would’ve won those two games as well, as they are still hanging on to slim playoff hopes at seven games back of the Rays.

For the 20th time this season, Josh Beckett will be taking the ball from manager Terry Francona. Beckett has been miserable this season by his standards, going just 5-5 with a 5.71 ERA. These are clearly the worst numbers in his career and it isn’t even close.
Beckett knows that a 1.50 WHIP and a .287 batting average against have gotten him killed in this injury riddled campaign, and all he can hope for now is to salvage a good start against a team that has plagued him throughout his career.
Beckett is just 9-7 with a 6.23 ERA in 21 starts against the Yanks.
After spending two months on the DL, Andy Pettitte is back for his 20th start of the year. He is going in search of his 12th win as well, as he is a sparkling 11-2 with a 2.81 ERA on the season. Had he stayed healthy, Pettitte clearly would have been in the running for the Cy Young Award. However, shutting him down in July has only made him fresher for the Yanks playoff run.
His first start back from injury was a good one, as he went six frames and allowed just one run against the Baltimore Orioles, but the team ended up losing 4-3 on the day.
MLB Insider Tip: The Yanks are a whopping 16-6 over their L/22 MLB betting affairs with the boys from Beantown.
This is a hefty price, but the Yankees just can’t afford to lose games now with the AL East still up for grabs. Beckett hasn’t pitched well this season at all, and we look for that to continue on Friday night.
Go with the Yanks to stump the Sox in Friday night MLB betting action!
