Go with the Rockies to Roll in MLB Betting Action
September 26, 2010
BetOnline Sportsbook has more MLB betting action in the final week and a half of the regular season, and on Sunday, the stakes couldn’t be any higher for the San Francisco Giants and the Colorado Rockies as they meet in the final game of their critical weekend set.
The Giants are not only looking at what is behind them, but what is level with them as well. Entering Friday night, they are deadlocked with the Cincinnati Reds for the second best record in baseball, which is critical due to the fact that that might determine home field advantage in a prospective series between the two teams.

The Giants are only a half game up on the San Diego Padres and 3.5 up on the Rockies. They’re also dead even with the Atlanta Braves for the NL Wild Card should they slip out of first in the NL West.
The Rockies are 3.5 behind in both the NL West and the NL Wild Card with the Padres to hop in the middle.

You have to go back to September 9th to find the last time that Matt Cain gave up a run. The fire balling righty is just 12-10 on the season, but his ERA is a sparkling 3.00. A 1.08 WHIP and .220 batting average against have made MLB betting fans happy all season long. With some more help from his team, this would be a Cy Young contender for sure.
Cain is certain to eat up tons of innings, as has been his M.O. over the past few years. He has already thrown 210.1 innings this year with two starts to go, marking his fourth straight season with at least 200 frames thrown.
Jorge De La Rosa might only be 8-5 on the year, but after going 16-9 and helping to pitch the Rocks to the playoffs last year, San Fran knows that this is a man that cannot be messed with.
De La Rosa has given up three runs or less in all but one of his MLB betting appearances since July 17th, which has seen his ERA come down from 6.16 to 4.22.
He is a perfect 6-0 with a 2.60 ERA in his 11 appearances against the Giants.
MLB Insider Tip: The Giants are just 2-7 in their L/9 MLB betting battles at Coors Field.
This is obviously a crucial series which the Rockies had better sweep if they have intentions of making the playoffs. Though they enter the weekend on a four game skid, they know that they still have a great shot to win 88-90 games and contend for one of those final two playoff bids.
