Kansas City Chiefs vs. Houston Texans
Game Date/Time: Sunday, October 17th, 1:00 ET
Game Location: Reliant Stadium, Houston, TX
TV/Radio Broadcast: CBS, Westwood One, Sirius
NFL Odds
Kansas City Chiefs (+4) -110
Houston Texans (-4) -110
Over/Under 45
The NFL odds are certainly going to be in favor of the Houston defense in this game. You beat this team by throwing the ball, not running it. Matt Cassel doesn’t want to put the pill in the air even 30 times if he can help it, so instead, both Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones will be unleashed on the Texans stop unit.
Just one problem: Houston’s front seven ranks No. 5 in the NFL in stopping the run at just 79.6 yards per game. If KC can’t get this going, even the Texans’ dreadful secondary will be able to shut down the Chiefs impotent air attack.
Cleveland Browns vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
Game Date/Time: Sunday, October 17th, 1:00 ET
Game Location: Heinz Field, Pittsburgh, PA
TV/Radio Broadcast: CBS, Westwood One, Sirius
NFL Odds
Cleveland Browns (+13.5) -110
Pittsburgh Steelers (-13.5) -110
Over/Under 37
The bottom line here for the Browns is that poor Colt McCoy has the NFL odds stacked against him in this one. Cleveland simply stands no chance of going against one of the most ferocious defenses in the league with a rookie quarterback making his first career NFL start.
This team forces more turnovers than just about any other team in the NFL, and when push comes to shove, there is no way that McCoy is going to do better than the average quarterback against the "Blitzburgh" defense.
New York Jets vs. Denver Broncos
Game Date/Time: Sunday, October 17th, 4:05 ET
Game Location: Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium, Denver, CO
TV/Radio Broadcast: CBS, Westwood One, Sirius
NFL Odds
New York Jets (-3) -120
Denver Broncos (+3) +100
Over/Under 41
The Jets have just one problem when they’re playing defense, and that’s that they have a tendency to give up the big play. This defense thrives on making quarterbacks rush throws and force bad decisions.
It just isn’t going to work that way against Kyle Orton and company. Orton is used to taking three steps and getting the ball out, something that could easily frustrate this defense.
Missed tackles in the secondary could lead to some huge plays. New York already ranks just No. 23 in the NFL in pass defense at 234.6 yards per game. Orton and the gang could do even more damage this week, particularly at home.
The NFL odds are always stacked against one team in a matchup. Ready to cash in against the big losers? BetOnline Sportsbook has all of the NFL betting lines that you’ll need for this weekend’s action!
