Get on These College Football Futures Today

September 7, 2011

When it comes to making futures wagers, it’s not always a good idea to wait.  The longer one waits, the more chance one has of being forced to settle for less than optimum odds.  In other words, that great overlay in July, might not be a great overlay in August.

It’s time to get on these college football futures today.

BCS National Championship

The top choices based on odds are Alabama at +450 and Oklahoma at +400.  Oklahoma looks extremely solid, but the picks are:

Stanford +1400 – - QB Andrew Luck is easily the best player in the nation and the coaching change from Jim Harbaugh to David Shaw is going to have a minimal negative affect.

Nebraska +2000 – - They’re automatically one of the top teams in the Big Ten and the Big Ten should be decent this season, plus QB Taylor Martinez will be much stronger.

Notre Dame +2000 – - Another weak schedule until the November 26 game against Stanford could put them in the discussion.

Wisconsin +2000 – - Like Nebraska, they figure to be at the top of the class in the Big Ten and that offense is fantastic.

2011 Heisman Trophy

It’s hard to look past both Stanford QB Andrew Luck at +225, the favorite, and Oklahoma QB Landry Jones, the co-second choice at +500.  Oklahoma figures to skate through the beleaguered ten team Big 12 Conference this season.

To Reach BCS Championship

It’s hard to look past favorite Oklahoma at +125.  The toughest team on their schedule, now that the Black Shirts of Nebraska have taken their game to the Big Ten, is the Texas A&M Aggies on November 5 and the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Dec. 3.  Get past those two and the Sooners will walk into the BCS Championship.

NCAA Regular Season Games

Oregon -2 ½ vs. Stanford +2 ½ – - Take the odds on Stanford right now.  By the time this game is played, the Cardinal should be favored over the Ducks who figure to have a down year now that defensive coordinators have had a good few months of studying their run and gun offense and Luck put Stanford ahead by a huge margin in this contest last season before the Cardinal imploded.
