Get In on Playoff Betting – Spurs at Suns – Game 1

May 4, 2010

An always entertaining Western conference clash between the Phoenix Suns and the San Antonio Spurs features two teams that know the huge importance of Game One, which is tonight at 10:30 ET at US Airways Center.

NBA betting fans must keep in mind that both teams have experience, so both know how big this game is.  However, for San Antonio, the game is huge because in 168 best-of-seven second round series, home-court teams have won 78.6 percent of the time.

NBA Betting Odds:

San Antonio Spurs +4

Phoenix Suns -4

O/U 204.5

NBA betting fans must keep in mind that both teams have experience, so both know how big this game is.  However, for San Antonio, the game is huge because in 168 best-of-seven second round series, home-court teams have won 78.6 percent of the time.

Consider that the Spurs are coming off a big series against the Mavs, where they beat a contender and sent a clear message about their intentions in the playoffs; meanwhile, the Suns were exposed by the Blazers team and won the series with more of a question than with answers.

San Antonio hopes that George Hill’s big momentum continues in this series, as he was a big key when they eliminated the Mavericks.  The Suns, on the other side, need Jason Richardson in this game because whenever he is on fire, Phoenix has a big chance of winning it.

Another factor for the Spurs will be the shape of Manu Ginobili.  Manu played really good in the first games of the first round until his nose got smashed up, then he had a few off-nights and came back to close the deal in Game Six.

Manu is the key for San Antonio, as he is the best player right now of this three-headed monster offense the Spurs have, and I don’t care if people are still in love with Duncan, the success of the Spurs remains on Manu’s shoulders.

Keep in mind that Phoenix was money in the regular season with a 51-35 ATS record; they are 14-4 ATS against Southwest division opponents and 7-2 ATS as a home favorite of 3.5 to 6 points.
San Antonio, on the other hand, had a 46-39 ATS record on the season, they are 1-5 ATS when playing with 3 or more days rest but 11-6 ATS against Pacific division opponents.
