Furious NBA Betting Picks – Friday Edition Highlights Thunder-Celtics!

November 20, 2010

Boston playing a Western Conference contender on their own court is always juicy stuff in NBA betting picks, and this game is no exception. The fact that the Celtics creamed the Oklahoma City Thunder 92-83 when they paid them a visit just two weeks ago is a big indicator for how well this team plays when they’re pitted against a good team, with their loss to Dallas serving as their only chink in their otherwise pretty damn good armor. Can Boston win the rubber match?

Oklahoma City has been getting killed in NBA betting picks this year because the public has been leaning so heavily on them. At just 4-7 ATS overall this season, with a 2-2 ATS record in 4 road games, the Thunder are still building themselves up. Durant and Westbrook lead a very young team that has no discernable veteran presence.

That’s the opposite of the Boston Celtics who are about as veteran as you can get. While the oddsmakers and handicappers had their doubts about the aging Big Three in Boston, it seems as though we have nothing to worry about. Boston is 5-0 SU in their last 5 games at home,

Oklahoma City Thunder (7-4) vs. Boston Celtics (9-2)

Friday, November 19th — 7:00pm EST

NBA Betting Line: Boston -8.5 (197)

What makes Boston so damn scary is size. With Shaquille O’Neal averaging 10.3 points per game, along with Glen Davis who puts up similar numbers, the Celtics always have a consistent size advantage in the paint. That makes rebounding a huge problem as was evident in the last matchup between these two in NBA betting picks.

Boston’s size is matched by their big play at home, and while this line is certainly daunting, you can’t count on Kevin Durant getting to the line as much to close in on the number like he did on his home court. The lines on the Celtics are finally being normalized, and while the Thunder will be a very good NBA betting pick eventually, the Celtics are a great one now.

Furious NBA Betting Pick – Boston -8.5 (UNDER)

BONUS NBA BETTING PICKS!

TORONTO RAPTORS +1.5 over Houston Rockets (7pm EST)

Everyone hates the Raptors. That’s why this line has moved from where it opened as a pick ‘em. Toronto fans love their basketball, and will show up in droves to support their team which should push them over the edge. Both teams are ridiculously bad at defense, but Houston is just 2-5 SU in their last 7 road games. Toronto isn’t much better at home, but overall they have the kind of team speed Houston can’t keep up with in NBA betting picks.

UTAH JAZZ -2.5 over San Antonio Spurs (9pm EST)

Bet against the San Antonio Spurs until you see how the fallout from Tony Parker’s indecisions affect this team. The Spurs are a great organization overall, but dealing with a handful like Tony Parker is a sordid mess even they’ll have trouble dealing with. San Antonio has always struggled in Utah, and are 1-4 SU and ATS in their last 5 games when visiting them. Utah is also a strong 16-5 SU in their last 21 home games and should take advantage of the idiocy Tony Parker committed as a team killing Frenchman in NBA betting picks tonight.
