Furious MLB Betting Picks – Red Sox Host Indians To Kick Off Series
June 7, 2010
As the frenzied race in the American League East picks up, the Boston Red Sox are still in danger against the vaunted Yankees and the surprisingly resilient Blue Jays. A nice series against the Cleveland Indians might give them a decisive MLB betting advantage on the line, but they have to produce wins in order to keep Toronto off their backs. Can Matsuzaka get this series off to a good start after Boston failed to sweep Baltimore?
Matsuzaka hasn’t exactly seen the heavy lifting load that most star pitchers have by this point, but he’s certainly producing whenever he gets the call to action. In just 41.0 innings this season he’s allowed just 37 hits and 25 earned runs giving him a 5.49 ERA.
In seven starts this season, the Red Sox are 4-3 SU when Matsuzaka gets the nod. They’ll be trying to protect a 5-0 SU win streak against Cleveland, and considering that they’re 5-1 SU in their last six games when visiting Cleveland. All signs point to a solid win for the Red Sox.
Boston Red Sox (33-25) vs. Cleveland Indians (21-34)
Monday, June 7th — Progressive Field — 7:05pm EST
MLB Betting Lines:
BOS – Daisuke Matsuzaka (R) -1.5 -105 -160 O 9.0 -105
CLE – Fausto Carmona – R() +1.5 -115 +140 U 9.0 -115
The last time Fausto Carmona was at the mound, the Indians almost gave up a perfect game to Gallaraga (and no, I’m not getting in to it…I warned you the kid was good and if you didn’t take the Detroit Tigers across the board in the game it’s your own fault). Carmona is 4-4 SU in 11 starts with a decent 3.53 ERA on the season. He gives up a horrific pitch count in most games, and the Tigers are just 4-7 SU when he starts.
Where To Watch: ESPN
Just like in the movies, the Cleveland Indians are an MLB betting laughing stock. They rank dead last in runs allowed (5.3 per game) in the AL, and are just 12th in runs scored (4.0) per road game. This is a tune up that the Red Sox need, and getting back-to-back series against dwindling teams is a god send given the rise of the Jays and Rays in the AL East.
Boston is surging in to “catch-up” mode and they’ll kick things off with a good start by throttling the Indians handedly on all lines while holding them to a low-end run total. Don’t sweat this one too much.
