Friday Night NCAAF Fury – Boise State vs. Fresno
September 18, 2009
Boise State gets road favorite odds as they try to stay ahead of the pack in the BCS standings by racking up more conference wins. The blue turf Broncos leave the comforts of home behind as they take on the Bulldogs in what promises to be an exiting Friday night matchup. Boise is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 on the road. Fresno State, meanwhile, has lost nine consecutive matchups against ranked opponents.
Fresno is 1-7 SU/ATS in their last 8 games against Boise State, and the Broncos will have to turn the Bulldogs in to a WAC welcome mat if they want to break in to the BCS. A win over Oregon was a great start, but they will have to escape the gauntlet of WAC matchups to be considered.
Their hopes reside in the abilities of Kellen Moore and Titus Young to continue building their chemistry. Young had 114 yards and two touchdowns against Miami of Ohio in the 48-0 route last weekend, and the young receiver will have to keep exploding over secondaries to keep Boise State’s slim BCS hopes alive. It’s a lot of pressure for a team that expects a ton from itself, while the associated press tends to jilt them at the altar.
Boise State Broncos (2-0) vs. Fresno State Bulldogs (1-1)
Friday, September 18 th — Bulldog Stadium, Fresno — 9:00pm EST
NCAAF Betting Line: Boise -7.5 (53.5)
The Bulldogs showed a penchant for gaining yards against Wisconsin, but sloppy turnovers killed them in the end. After entering the half with a 14-point lead, they disintegrated down the stretch losing 34-31 in doublet over-time. Chalk up to experience or talent. Either way, they’re outclassed in this matchup against Boise State.
I hated the spread at -10, but I love it at -7.5. Bet Boise State as they roll over the Bulldogs again, keeping a strong road ATS record intact and developing momentum that the AP can not ignore.
Furious Free Pick: Boise -7.5 (OVER)
