Free Betting Tips – Take the Broncos at +3 Versus the Jets
October 17, 2010
One of my best free football betting tips of the week is to take the Denver Broncos at +3 in the sportsbook against the spread versus the New York Jets on Sunday.
I believe that the Jets are the best team in the NFL, but there are a few reasons why I feel that the Broncos are such a great wager ATS. As good as New York has been since Week 1 of the season, teams go through highs and lows and the Jets might be ready for a low on Oct. 17th.

The betting trends don’t come close to supporting the notion that backing the Broncos is one of the better free betting tips for this Sunday.
- The New York Jets are 7 and 1 ATS in their last 8 games on the road.
- The New York Jets are 8 and 2 ATS in their last 10 versus the AFC.
- The Denver Broncos are 1 and 6 ATS in their last 7 versus the AFC.
- The Denver Broncos are 2 and 5 ATS in their last 7 games at home.
Forget stats because if I look at stats, overall stats I mean, then betting on the New York Jets to cover the spread is one of the best free betting tips I can dish for this Sunday’s games.
But my betting tip is to back the Denver Broncos at +3 +100. Why? For a few reasons.
First, the New York Jets are coming off of a hard fought victory over the Minnesota Vikings in a driving rainstorm on Monday night. I can’t believe that they’re going to be ready to travel to Denver and into that thin air to take on the Broncos.
The Jets laid it all out on the line in their win over Minnesota. They can’t possibly bring the same energy to this Sunday’s game. Oh, yes, CB Darrelle Revis is unlikely to play this Sunday against Denver. That’s a much bigger issue than many football handicappers might think because Denver’s passing offense is incredibly efficient.
The Broncos average 333 passing yards per game. Denver has the 2nd best passing attack in the NFL. Ah, but the Jets have a great, blitzing defense, right? Yes, New York does, but unlike Minnesota, who has a 41-year-old has been throwing the pig skin for them, the Broncos have Kyle Orton throwing passes for them. Orton has a 97.8 QB rating. He’s thrown 8 touchdowns and only 3 picks this season.
Orton has been sacked 12 times this season, but the Jets’ QB pressure is only effective if they can play man-to-man on the Broncos’ wide receivers. That may be easier said than done as Denver’s wide receivers are all capable off beating almost every cornerback in the NFL one-on-one. Brandon Lloyd, Jabar Gaffney, Eddie Royal and rookie Demaryius Thomas are all capable of having huge games. They can all catch and run with the ball and all four of them are difficult do defend against. With Revis on the bench, who will CB Antonio Cromartie guard one-on-one in blitz packages?
Brett Favre found Percy Harvin over the middle for a huge touchdown in the Monday night game. Don’t expect Broncos’ coach Josh McDaniels to have forgotten that. He’s going to come up with some great stuff for Orton and his bevy of wide receivers in this game.
The Broncos’ D isn’t very good, obviously, but it might be good enough to keep the Jets’ offense from putting up more than 17 to 21 points against it. If that happens, then the Jets could be in trouble because the Broncos will score in this game.
This is a trap game for New York. They face a tough team on the road after winning a hard fought battle on a Monday night without their best cornerback.
I’m making the Denver Broncos to cover one of my best free betting tips for Sunday.
NFL Betting Pick: Denver Broncos +3 +100
