The road team in this rivalry has covered in 6 of the last 8 games – which is also the number of wins for the underdog.
The Eagles have played extremely well when Mike Vick is under center. He has been especially productive with WR DeSean Jackson (4 TDs, 504 yards). The Redskins secondary is 31st in the league against the pass. They have given up 280 yards/game in the air and 112.4 yards on the ground.
With a weak defense like that, the Eagles are likely to roll out some explosive plays and steady runs from LeSean McCoy.
The Redskins are coming off a bye week and some internal issues. Head Coach Mike Shanahan has publically questioned Donovan McNabb’s health, commitment and fitness – going as far as benching him for Rex Grossman in the final two minutes of a winnable game in Detroit. The Redskins lost and have had two weeks to think about it.
They have also had injury issues – especially at running back. With no consistency on the run, it’s hard for an offense to get anything done. The Eagles have been stingy against the run, as well. They are 12th in the league, offering up just over 100 yards.
If the Redskins want to win this game, they’ll have to put the game into the hands of McNabb and his WRs. Given the current issues, that might not work against the ball-hungry Eagles secondary.
Free Betting Tips:
Take the inspired play of Mike Vick, DeSean Jackson and the Philadelphia Eagles against the Redskins. With the issues behind the scenes in Washington, the Eagles will expose them during prime time.
While I don’t like taking road favorites on Monday Night, the Eagles are a much stronger team and should show up for this rivalry.
