Free Betting Tips For the Packers vs. Bears Game
September 26, 2010
It’s time to get to the free sports betting tips for this week’s Monday night game between the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears.
The Packers and Bears face each other in the most classic of NFL rivalry as undefeated teams. Green Bay has been picked by many football experts to make this year’s Super Bowl out of the NFC while the Bears, picked by some to finish in the bottom of the NFC North, have already beaten NFC fave Dallas on the road.

The free betting tips trends favor the Green Bay Packers in this game.
- The Green Bay Packers are 8-1-1 ATS in their last 10 games on grass.
- The Green Bay Packers are 9 and 2 ATS in the last 11 meetings between these two teams in Chicago.
- The Chicago Bears are 1 and 5 ATS in their last 6 games at home.
- The Chicago Bears are 3 and 11 ATS in their last 14 games as the underdog.
Most football handicappers are going to say that Green Bay has looked better than Chicago so far in 2010. That point is hard to argue since the Packers covered a 3-point spread as the favorites versus the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1 when beating the Eagles 27 to 10 and then destroying the Buffalo Bills as a 12 ½ point favorite in Week 2, 34 to 7.
But Chicago hasn’t looked bad and there might actually be a reason to believe that Chicago has improved from Week 1 to Week 2 this season. The Bears got lucky against Detroit in their 19 to 14 victory, but Detroit isn’t as bad as they have been in season’s past. Then, in Week 2, the Bears upset the football betting world by shocking Dallas as 7-point underdogs straight up 27 to 20.
The difference appears to be QB Jay Cutler’s improvement. Cutler is having a field day under offensive coordinator Mike Martz’s spread formation system. So is RB Matt Forte who has 188 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns this season in only 2 games.
When it comes to the Bears’ defense, signing Julius Peppers has proved to be incredibly valuable. Although the stats don’t say it, it’s obvious that Peppers demanding attention has led to things opening up for linebackers Lance Briggs and Brian Urlacher.
Green Bay is terrific, yes, but because the Bears get to play this game at home, and this is always a tough game because of its history, I have to take the best NFL betting odds available. Therefore, one of my free betting tips is to wager on the Bears to win straight up at +130.
One of my other free betting tips for this game might surprise some football handicappers. Although both teams have excellent offenses, they also have very, very good defenses. Chicago is 1st against the run. They allow only 28 yards per game. They do allow 260 yards per game through the air, but expect their pass defense to tighten things up this Sunday because of their familiarity with Green Bay QB Aaron Rodgers.
Green Bay’s D is ranked 3rd against the pass. They allow only 116.5 yards per game. They should be able to keep Forte and Cutler under control and Martz’s system just isn’t designed to hand the ball off to the running back 30 times per game.
Because both teams bring a great defense to the party on Sunday, one of my other terrific free betting tips for this game is to wager under the total of 46.
NFL Betting Pick: Chicago Bears +130 and Under 46 -110
