Free Betting Tips For Pittsburgh-New England On Sunday Night

November 14, 2010

New England will travel to Pittsburgh and battle the Steelers in what could very well be a preview of the AFC Championship game, and if you need some free betting tips then I’m here to dispense them.

Free Betting Tip #1 – Everybody Hates Pittsburgh

The Steelers have this really nasty habit of making everybody play their best football. They suffered a loss to New Orleans, which had been a stay-away in free betting tips all season before that. Miami lost to them by a questionable call and a single-point. Cincinnati almost completed a gnarly comeback.

Something about Pittsburgh makes teams want to play their best, which is a terrifying thought when it comes to the New England Patriots and Tom Brady. That leads me to my second free betting tip on this game…

Free Betting Tip #2 – New England Loves Playing In Pittsburgh

Actually, New England loves nothing more than sticking it to home town fans. They sometimes lack that certain luster when they’re playing teams like Cleveland, but against perennial AFC contenders, they come to play hard nosed every time.

The Patriots are a strong 4-1 SU and ATS in their past 5 visits to Heinz Field. Overall, they’ve bested Pittsburgh 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games at any location. Pittsburgh may have some of the best fans in football, but that might be a bad thing considering that the Pats are an “F-U” kind of team.

Free Betting Tip #3 – Steelers Are Great At Looking Bad

If Pittsburgh can play lights out, they’re probably the best team in the league bar none. But look at what they did at the end of the Cincinnati game, up just 27-21 with the Bengals stealing all the momentum: Pittsburgh ran the ball seven straight times with Rashard Mendenhall to set-up a 46-yard field goal for Jeff Reed, which he missed.

Reed can’t make that kick. Pittsburgh knows that.

That’s not sticking to your guns. That’s playing scared. Roethlisberger looked terrified of losing that game, and while Pittsburgh has been winning games, they haven’t been doing it with that swagger and “edge” that usually makes them a no brainer in free betting tips.

New England Patriots (6-2) vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (6-2)

Sunday, November 14th — Heinz Field — 8:20pm EST

NFL Betting Line: Pittsburgh -4.5 (45)

Free Betting Tip #4 – Chase the OVER

Those that read my work know I’m a big fan of the OVER. As good as Pittsburgh’s defense is, Tom Brady has been electric against it in his career. Say what you will about New England, but their defense is abysmal. When New England plays in Pittsburgh, the OVER has been pushed on 4-of-5 occasions or 80-percent of the time. That’s probably the easiest free betting tip for this barn burner.

Free Betting Tip #5 – Pittsburgh Is Not A Great Home Team

At least not when it comes to covering the line. Pittsburgh is 2-4-1 ATS in their last 7 home stands and this reeks of a game won or lost on a field-goal. Doesn’t it? Can’t you just feel a last minute field-goal where Mr. No Name Kicker comes out of the locker room for the Patriots and becomes a Beantown hero? It feels like that game. You know, the type of games we hate.

Free Betting Tip #6 – New England Sucks On The Road

Ha! Bet you didn’t see this free betting tip coming at your face. New England is actually 3-6 SU in their past 9 games on the road. Their road games this year have either ended up in losses (Jets, Browns) or tight victories, like when they relied on San Diego botching a game-tying field goal.

Free Betting Tip #7 – Don’t Trust Either Team

If you think this game is going to be a blowout, then guess again. Neither team is playing to its full potential right now, and when the Steelers play scared, they’re not as good as you’d expect. You can’t just grade teams on wins and losses, or their ATS records. You have to watch them, and Pittsburgh has a sinking feeling right now.

New England hasn’t been true to form either. In the back of my head, the little degenerate is screaming “Steelers are going to blow this game away at home!!!” but I’m also terrified of this being one of those close nail-biters where both teams come out cold, turn it on for the middle quarters and then freeze each other up in the fourth with it coming down to that nauseating field-goal by New England.

Which leads me to my final free betting tip on this game…

Free Betting Tip #8 – Bet Patriots +4.5 (OVER)

I have really tried to get the image of the backup kicker in New England setting up for the game winner out of my head, and I can’t. You know it’s happening. You can feel it in your bones. If a game comes down to a field-goal, or you desperately feel like it will, then take the points. I beg you. Listen to these free betting tips and take the freaking points.
