Free Betting Tips – Teams in Control of Destiny – Chiefs and Rams in Week 15

December 18, 2010

Two of the biggest Free Betting Tips surprises of the season square off on Sunday with each needing a win to put themselves in a position to advance past the regular season. The Chiefs are in a desperate fight to hold off the hard charging San Diego Chargers while the Rams are in a good position to win the brutal NFC West.

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (8-5) vs. ST. LOUIS RAMS (6-7)
Sunday, December 19, 1:00 PM ET
Edward Jones Dome, St. Louis Missouri
Broadcast: CBS

Free Football Betting Tips Lines:

Kansas City: -1 (-110)
St. Louis: +1 (-110)

Total: 43 ½ points

Until we know the status of Matt Cassel, Free Betting Tips are a difficult proposition. He has practiced this week but his availability is still highly questionable. Needless to say, Cassel is crucial in this game – Brodie Croyle and the offense generated only 69 total yards last week against the Chargers.

Kansas City’s 28th ranked passing game (184.85 yards per game) will have to be better this week but Cassel’s 19 touchdowns and 1 interception in his last eight games played is absolutely necessary if the Chiefs want to challenge against the Rams.

The Top ranked running game (165.38 yards per game) gained only 50 yards last week and have to be better this week don’t they? Jamaal Charles, who gained only 40 yards last week, will be heavily featured regardless of who starts at pivot. He needs 100 yards rushing for the Chiefs to have a chance.

Kansas City’s defense has been good at times but they have also been brutal at others. Their 22nd ranked pass defense (232 yards per game) may not get much work – it is going to be the 15th ranked run defense (109.92 yards per game) that is going to have to shine. The rush defense gave up 161 yards against Denver and 207 yards against San Diego in the last two games.

The St. Louis Rams are a much better Free Betting Tips team on home turf than they are on the road. This week, they can put a little distance between themselves and the Seattle Seahawks, assuming that the elite Atlanta Falcons do their job and beat the Hawks.

St. Louis has the 21st best passing offense in the NFL (207.32 yards per game) and the 20th ranked running game in the league (107.85 yards per game). The Rams have had major issues scoring in the Red Zone – they are a league worst 36.2% in Touchdown efficiency in the Red Zone. Sam Bradford will be called on to manage the game and let Steven Jackson succeed on the ground.

The St. Louis run defense (12th ranked – 105.89 yards per game) will be on full display in this game. If they stop Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones, the Rams will win the game – period! However, the Rams have given up an average of 173.5 yards per game on the ground in their last four games.

NFL Free Betting Tips Outlook:

The Kansas City Chiefs are 2-5 ATS inn their last seven games, are 1-5 SU and 2-4 ATS in their last six games on the road. The Chiefs are 5-1 SU in their last six games against St. Louis.

The St. Louis Rams are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games but are just 7-18 SU in their last 25 games on the road. The Rams are 5-19 SU in their last 24 games at home but are 4-1 SU in their last five on home turf. The Rams are 1-5 SU and ATS in their last six games against the Chiefs.

This game is uber-important to both teams. The Chiefs need to win to keep their slim one game lead over that Chargers and the Rams need this game to stay atop of the NFC West. Cassel may play but if he does, chances are that he will be less than 100%. That leaves this game up to the running games and run defenses on both sides. With the Rams being a good home team and the Chiefs being a bad road team, it should be the Rams that succeed in this one. I like the Rams to prevail, Cassel or not!

Free Betting Tips Pick: St. Louis Rams +1
