It’s really hard to figure out which one of these teams is really better than the other, as both the Hoyas and Huskies have resumes that look awfully similar. Both have three losses on the road and two at home. Both are averaging right around 74 points per game offensively. Both are allowing between 65 and 66 points per game defensively. Georgetown is 9-4 in conference while UConn is 7-5.

Yet in this one, we’ve absolutely figured out that the Hoyas are the subject of our free basketball picks.

Georgetown is just significantly more efficient, and there are so many more ways for it to beat you on a regular basis than what Connecticut has to offer.

Don’t get us wrong — Kemba Walker is absolutely phenomenal. There’s a reason that he is one of the top scorers in the country and is averaging over 22 points per game this season, but there’s also a reason that over his last seven games, he is averaging less than 17 points per game. His average is falling dramatically thanks to the fact that he just isn’t getting all that much help, and if that remains the case, it’ll be hard to make free basketball picks on this team.

Austin Freeman, Julian Vaughn, Chris Wright, Jason Clark… All four of these players can have huge nights for the Hoyas, and they can all do so without really getting all that many touches of the basketball. Georgetown is shooting right at 50.0 percent from the field as a team, ranking No. 2 in the land, and there aren’t many shooters on this team that can say they are putting up worse than about 47 percent from the field on the campaign.

There’s also definitely something to be said about the fact that the Hoyas have rolled off eight in a row SU and are 6-2 ATS to show for their work during that stretch. Head Coach John Thompson III has a great team, and we aren’t about to go against it, especially catching a short number of points, even on the road.
