After dropping their opening game of the season 14-9 in New Orleans last week, Head Coach Brad Childress will need to address why his defensive unit was unable to get a stop on the final drive of the game, allowing the Saints to eat up the final 5 minutes and 32 seconds without so-much as a hiccup.
Admittedly, Favre wasn’t that impressive in his 2010 NFL football spread debut, completing just 15 passes of 27 attempts for 171 yards, a touchdown, and a pick.
But, it was noticeably difficult for the future Hall of Famer to trust his receivers downfield in the absence of his number one wide out Sidney Rice.
However, when it came time to get the ball back in the hands of Favre in the 4th quarter for a potential game winning drive, it was the Vikings defense that failed to execute.
The Dolphins, meanwhile, relied on a new star, Karlos Dansby and a group of defenders that showed why Miami may have made the necessary offseason improvements to be a contender in the AFC East.
Dansby led Miami to a 15-10 victory over the Buffalo Bills with eight tackles in the game and a sack on the first drive, setting the tone for a game in which the Bills would like to forget.
Buffalo was held to 166 yards of total offense in the game, unable to get anything productive going, especially on the ground where they averaged just 2.9 yards on 17 carries.
It will be tough for Miami to go into the Metrodome against an angry Vikings squad but a Vikings (-5.5) spread is not giving the Dolphins enough credit.
If the Dolphins can get pressure on Favre and limit Adrian Peterson to under 100 yards rushing in the game, Miami will have a legitimate chance at starting their NFL football spread season 2-0 for the first time since 2002.
