It won’t be easy for either team to get bowl eligible, but the possibilities are there, as long as they win Saturday. Let’s start with Colorado, who’ll be playing a new, old quarterback against Kansas.

That’d be senior Cody Hawkins, a former starter and son of coach Dan Hawkins. The younger Hawkins had been the starter for several years at Colorado, but after struggling yet again last year, he was replaced by Tyler Hansen. Hansen was commendable, but after suffering an injury two weeks ago against Texas Tech, was again replaced by Hawkins. In his one start at Oklahoma last weekend, Hawkins struggled, completing a woeful 38 percent of his passes for 187 yards and touchdown.

However, the Football Sports Betting scene in this one is muddied, as Kansas is struggling just as much as Colorado. The Jayhawks come into this one with one of the truly awful offenses in college football, churning up just 323 yards and averaging a meager 16 points per game. It’s been tough going for first year coach Turner Gill.

Really, the toughest part for the Jayhawks is that there are no signs of progress or things to hang their hats on at this time of year. Quarterback Jordan Webb is hurt, and his replacement Kale Pick missed last week’s game against Iowa State with a concussion as well. That put Quinn Mecham into the fire, and understandably he struggled in his first start of the season.  The junior did complete 22 passes, but it wasn’t enough as Kansas lost in Ames 28-16, to fall to 0-4 in Big XII play.

And with all that quarterback confusion, it seems logical to stay away from Kansas, and to make Colorado the weekend Football Sports Betting pick.

The Buffaloes aren’t nearly as bad as they’ve looked the last couple weeks, and unlike Kansas does have a few difference makers on offense. Scotty McKnight in particular could be in for a big day at wide receiver, as the senior has a team-high 36 catches this year. Hawkins has to be careful with the ball, but can be effective at quarterback when given time.

While this game isn’t the biggest one of the schedule, it’s just as important as any, with both teams fighting for bowl eligibility.

Only one team can get that elusive win, and it’ll be Colorado. Make them your Football Sports Betting pick today!

Football Sports Betting Pick: Colorado -8 ½
