San Diego Chargers (5-5) at Indianapolis Colts (6-4)
8:25 pm ET Sunday
NFL Betting Line: Colts favored at -3
The Chargers have won four of the last five in this series which is key going into this one. In many of those games the two teams had similar schemes, coaches, and players and the Chargers got the better of a more talented Colts team.
They just seem to match up well against the Colts in large part because of their size and physicality.
The NFL odds for this one are in the Colts’ favor because of their home status but the Chargers have won games in Indianapolis in recent years so they’re not going to be intimidated.
Peyton Manning is probably the better all-around QB but Philip Rivers is playing better this year.
Manning’s team has been stricken by injuries but the Chargers have been perhaps even more banged up on offense and Rivers has persevered through it all to put up MVP-type numbers.
The Chargers are the football oddsss picks underdog in large part because of their record as well but their statistics are excellent across the board on both sides of the ball while the Colts have had to scratch and claw for most of their yards at times in comparison.
Indianapolis is getting healthier and seems primed for a big game but so are the Chargers.
With everything on the line, Rivers and the Chargers are the best pick because of their recent history of beating the Colts and Rivers’ amazing hot streak.
Manning will make it a game but he hasn’t been the best clutch QB in his career as evidenced by his mistakes last week against New England in a loss.
If San Diego can slow down the Colts’ passing attack they will win this one because of their own passing game and hard-hitting defense against a Colts offense that needs a bit more time together to get in a rhythm.
Football Odds Pick: San Diego (-3).
