That’s right folks, we’ve got ourselves a case of an “immaculate force,” going against an “immovable object,” this weekend, when Air Force’s No. 1 ranked rushing offense goes up against the No. 1 scoring defense in the country at TCU.

While the Falcons are coming off just their second loss of the season, it’s hard to say that their offense “struggled,” last week against San Diego State, as they still put up 312 yards on the ground in defeat. The star of that show was junior running back Asher Clark, who put up his third 100 yard rushing game of the season, totaling 116 yards on just 19 carries. Quarterback Tim Jefferson also had a big game, throwing for 175 yards and rushing for another 88, yet it wasn’t enough as the Falcons fell in San Diego.

Meanwhile, things get no easier this week for Air Force, as they go into Fort Worth as heavy underdogs in the Football Odds. There won’t be any easy answer going against this TCU defense, which ranks No. 1 in the country in scoring defense, allowing an incredible nine points per game. The Horned Frogs have been even better of late, allowing just three points total in their last three games. Honestly, how is that even possible?

Still, TCU isn’t strictly a defensive minded team, as amazingly, they rank No. 7 in the country in scoring offense as well. And while Andy Dalton gets all the credit for carrying this offense, it is actually the running game which does the heavy lifting. On the year, TCU ranks 10th in college football, averaging 254 yards per game on the ground, which puts them in the Top 10 in the country. Their workhorse is junior Ed Wesley who has emerged after being limited a year ago, and has had 97 carries for 665 yards on the season. Matthew Tucker isn’t a bad back himself, with 387 yards and five scores on the season.

In the end though, it is this writer’s belief that Air Force will do just enough to cover the weekend Football Odds.

While it seems like a tall order for the Falcons to win straight up, their rushing offense is all but impossible to prepare for in one week, the task that’s been placed in front of TCU. At the same time, this was a team that well last weekend, even though they lost. And the biggest factor of all might be that when you run the ball as well as Air Force has, it chews up clock, and limits possessions of the other team. With TCU electing to run the ball whenever possible too, it seems like 18 ½ points seems is a lot for them to be giving.

In the end, take TCU to win at home, but for Air Force to cover.

The Falcons are the pick to make in this weekend’s Football Odds.

Football Odds Pick: Air Force +18 ½
