Football Odds – Saints and Titans Look to Finish Preseason in Style
September 2, 2010
Week 4 of the preseason is upon us and Football betting Odds are that the starters for the New Orleans Saints and the Tennessee Titans won’t see a whole lot of playing time.
Both teams have their rosters basically set but there will be motivation for a few to secure a backup role on their respective teams.

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (2-1) vs. TENNESSEE TITANS (1-2)
LP Field
Nashville, Tennessee
NFL Lines:
New Orleans: + 7 ½ (-110)
Tennessee: - 7 ½ (-110)
Moneyline: New Orleans +270: Tennessee -330
Total: 41 points: Over (110), Under (110)
The New Orleans Saints have little to prove in their Week 4 preseason matchup against Tennessee. Football Odds are that the starters will see very little, if any, playing time in this contest. Fresh off a 552 yard offensive explosion against San Diego, it is obvious that there is little work to be done for New Orleans before the Regular Season.
Drew Brees will likely hold the clipboard for his backups Patrick Ramsey (191 yards passing, one touchdown and one interception last week) and Chase Daniels. Ramsey has looked good but will be pushed by the younger Daniels for the backup role.
The running game has also looked good behind an offensive line that surrendered only one sack against the Chargers last week. Again, Football odds are that the backups will likely see the bulk of the work against Tennessee. Chris Ivory (120 combined yards last week and a touchdown) will get a good look as will recently signed Ladell Betts.
The New Orleans defense will also trot out many second and third stringers. Defensive Coordinator Gregg Williams will be looking for depth at each position making it an important game for many.
Football Odds are that the Tennessee Titans will likely rest their top players as well. However, their Week 3 performance last week showed that they still have a lot to work on. The Titans were shut out in the first three quarters in a game that Vince Young passed for only 48 yards in one half of play.
Backup Kerry Collins was better and appears to have his job locked up. Chris Simms will see extended playing time in hopes that he can remain with the club.
Running Back Chris Johnson will likely sit – he has nothing to prove. Javon Ringer appears to have the backup role locked up although Alvin Pearman will push him hard for the roster spot.
Hopes are that the leaky offensive line (7 sacks last week) will find their rhythm in this game – they are an integral part of the Titans’ success.
Football Odds Outlook:
I know that it is the preseason but New Orleans +7 ½ is borderline ridiculous! Kerry Collins and Chris Simms are motivated for sure but the Saints’ backup Patrick Ramsey has looked good as well.
The Saints are an offensive machine and Gregg Williams’ defense plays hard all the time. After last week’s dismal effort, Tennessee will likely play hard, but to expect them to cover the 7 ½ points may be too much to ask.
Football Odds Pick: New Orleans Saints to cover
