THE DOG POUND: UPSET LOOKOUT THIS WEEK
Here are some teams catching point son this week’s schedule that could be well worth investigating:
The Minnesota Vikings showed last week that even with the possibility of a #1 seed in the playoffs looming, they could still go flat in a game, as they woke up too late against the Bears and wound up coming back, but losing in overtime anyway.
The NEW YORK GIANTS, who are getting nine points in the BetOnline NFL football odds, are coming off one of the most embarrassing losses in their history, but still have the opportunity to finish 9-7 on the season, due to their hot start. I don’t know whether Tom Coughlin has worn out his welcome or not, but he is not the type of coach who is going to stand for his team laying down very long, even it is in a "meaningless game."
What’s going on with Minnesota now is that everyone will be whispering in Brett Favre’s ear that he has to take the whole thing into his won hands, and that will be magnified with the resurrection of Adrian Peterson’s "fumble-itis" last week. That means he is vulnerable to throwing this, or any other game, away.
The CINCINNATI BENGALS are ten-point underdogs at BetOnline to the New York Jets in Sunday’s contest, and this line has become a bit inflated because of the fact that the Jets can secure a playoff spot, plain and simple, if they win this game. Of course, Rex Ryan’s team wouldn’t be in this position had the Indianapolis Colts not taken a dive against them last week. Interestingly, the Colts and Bengals are two team the Jets might run into in the post-season.
While I would not expect Cincy to reveal the whole playbook in this one, or even play Carson Palmer for an extended period of time, I DO expect the defense to show up, and let’s not forget that the underdog has covered all but two of Cincinnati’s games this season.
