Football Betting Odds – Giants vs. Eagles
November 20, 2010
The Eagles play their second prime time game in a week as they take on the New York Giants. This clash in the NFC East features some big playmakers, playoff caliber teams and close football betting odds.
Sunday, Nov 21 @ 8:20pm EST on NBC
SNF Odds: New York Giants (+3) at Philadelphia Eagles (-3)
Point Total: 48
Mike Vick and the Eagles are coming off one of the most impressive victories of the season. Vick threw for over 300 yards, threw 4 TDs and ran for 2 more en route to demolishing the Washington Redskins.
Despite coming off the short week, the Eagles were able to rest many of their key players down the stretch on Monday night.

Although the underdog is 10-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings between these divisional rivals, the Eagles look like a powerful force in the NFC. Philly is just .500 at home this season with two wins (Atlanta, Indianapolis) and two losses (Washington, Green Bay). With their explosive scoring, the Eagles have pushed over the point total in their last 5 contests.
The Giants are coming off a shocking loss – to the one-win Dallas Cowboys. New York was a 14-point favorite coming into the game and allowed a team many had written off to cover and win in New York. Eli Manning and the rest of the offense will need to score as the Giants D will hope to limit (not stop) Vick, DeSean Jackson and LeSean McCoy.
The Eagles are averaging 28.6 points/game on the year, surrendering 23.2. New York has put up 26.2, giving up 21.4. With the slight defensive edge, the Giants will try and keep the leagues leading QB in check.
After putting up 59 points in the Week 10 romp, the Eagles are 3rd in rushing yards and 9th in passing. Their defense has steadily improved, giving up 104 yards on the ground and 221 yards in the air. New York’s efficient offense and top-3 defense will match up well, except in the secondary where Philadelphia holds an edge in speed.
In such a tight divisional matchup, I’ll give the edge to the home team. The Eagles look like NFC title contenders right now and it’s hard to bet anything against Vick. As the Eagles come off their most decisive win and the Giants come off their worst loss, I’ll look to ride the hot streak and take the Eagles by 3 points.
These teams will meet again in week 15. If this game plays out on the field as it looks on paper, the point total of 48 will be an easy Over. Take the Eagles on the football betting odds.
