Football Betting Home Team Washington is Favored to Beat Minnesota this Sunday
November 26, 2010
The Washington Redskins, as crazy as this sounds, are favored to beat the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, November 28th.
Now, Washington isn’t a huge favorite to beat Minnesota. They’re only favored by 1 ½ points but being favored in any game for the Washington Redskins is somewhat of a victory. After all, just a couple of weeks ago the ‘Skins were regarded as the most dysfunctional team in all of football.

Then, of course, the consistency of dysfunction, the 2010 Minnesota Vikings, decided to lay down versus the Green Bay Packers 3 to 31 (in order to get their coach fired, I think!) and regained their title. Now, the Vikings, under new coach Leslie Frazier after they canned Brad “Childish”, will march into Washington and see if they can garner a victory as the dogs in the football betting Sportsbook.

The trends favor the Washington Redskins in this game.
- The Washington Redskins 8-2-4 ATS in their last 14 games on grass.
- The Washington Redskins are 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 games as a favorite of ½ to 3 points.
- The Minnesota Vikings are 0 and 6 ATS in their last 6 games as an underdog.
- The Minnesota Vikings are 0 and 5 ATS in their last 5 road games.
Vikings’ management is hoping that their team will respond to Leslie Frazier the way that the Cowboys responded to Jason Garrett taking over for Wade Phillips. Although there are some similarities between the two teams, Garrett for Phillips really isn’t the same as Frazier for Childress. Garrett was the offensive coordinator for the ‘Boys and is a young, fired up guy.
Frazier is the defensive coordinator for the Vikings. He’s not nearly fired up as Garrett and, more importantly, he doesn’t get the luxury of sitting down with a QB that’s willing to listen to him. The problem for the Vikings this season is that their quarterback, Brett Favre, is playing well below expectations. The man is a liability on the field. He’s continually changing the play and making wacky decisions even though he doesn’t have the skills to make the throws.
Football betting wise, Favre has blown more dollars for Viking backers than any other QB in the league. I know this because the Vikings have been a favorite in 4 out of their 10 games this season and a 5-point dog or less in their other 6 games. Simply put, NFL pigskin wagering fans were counting on Brett to come through in close games this season, like he did last season, but without a true wide receiver that can stretch the field, Brett is just another old, has-been QB.
I have no faith that the Vikings, under Leslie Frazier, will be any better than the Vikings under Brad “Childish” as long as Brett Favre is under center for them. Washington’s defense isn’t great but it showed a lot of heart last Sunday when holding Titans’ RB Chris Johnson without a score.
‘Skins’ QB Donovan McNabb was actually brilliant last week when throwing for 376 yards and a touchdown with only one pick. I don’t see how Favre outplays McNabb this matchup on Sunday. That’s another reason to like the Redskins in the NFL football betting sportsbook.
I have to pick the Redskins to cover in this game. The problems for Minnesota run much deeper than former head coach Brad Childress. The team is a mess. I’m going with the Washington Redskins to cover the football betting spread in the sportsbook.
NFL Betting Pick: Washington Redskins -1 ½ -110
