Many football bettors (including myself) believe the 49ers have enough talent and perseverance to surpass a troubled Arizona squad to win the NFC West this season.
Nonetheless, it wouldn’t be beneficial for the 49ers to start the 2010 football betting season with a loss to the Seahawks and begin this year 0-1 in the NFC West.
The 49ers recognize this fact and understand how desperately they need a win this week. San Francisco will be going all-out, utilizing all of their biggest weapons to win this NFC West divisional matchup in an attempt to get a head start on the Cardinals.
San Fran’s biggest threat is All-Pro running back Frank Gore.
Gore tore it up last season with more than 1,100 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns (while missing most of three games due to a right ankle injury). His longest run went for 80 yards, second only to Chris Johnson who recorded a 91-yard touchdown against the Texans.
The San Fransisco 49ers’ next biggest offensive threat is second year wideout Michael Crabtree.
Last year in his rookie season, Crabtree only played the final 11 weeks and still recorded 625 receiving yards, enough to place him in the NFL’s top-60 receivers. He averaged 56.8 yards per game (36 th in the league), which is very promising for a rookie playing practically half a season.
San Francisco’s third offense weapon is Pro Bowl tight end, Vernon Davis.
The 26-year-old caught nearly 1,000 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns (tying Antonio Gates’ all-time record for most touchdowns by a tight end in a season).
Davis and Crabtree should combine for a heavy amount of yardage against a Seattle pass defense that ranked 30 th in the NFL last football betting season.
The Seattle Seahawks, on the other hand, have very few talented players at their disposal.
They released their top wideout, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, this offseason and are left with young and unproven Golden Tate as their number one wide receiver.
Seattle also plans on splitting carries between two running backs, Julius Jones and Justin Forsett, neither were great last year. Ultimately, it won’t matter whose in the backfield for the Seahawks this week as they face a 49ers run defense that ranked 6 th in the NFL last football betting season.
Marshall Mention: Frank Gore has two career 200+ yard games, both were against Seattle.
Football Betting Expert Pick: Bet on the 49ers (-3).
