Jeffrey Godfrey, the freshman quarterback who won the job for UCF with a sterling performance in the N.C. State game, the followed up strongly in the win over Buffalo, had his moments against Kansas State, running for 99 yards but completing only eight of 18 passes with a couple of interceptions. He does have the kind of mobility that could confound the UAB defense. But for a change of pace, coach George O’Leary is going to use Rob Calabrese (more of a dropback type) at quarterback as well. This affects what kind of football betting advice we give out,
One has to concede that the Blazers have done a pretty good job in the wake of the departure of do-everything quarterback Joe Webb, who is now in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings. They have used two different kinds of signal-callers, and if you could put the best qualities of both of them together, you might have somebody like Webb. David Isabelle is quick on his feet, but proved to be a neophyte passer, completing less than 50% of his throws. The Blazers lost in last-minute heart-breaking fashion to Florida Atlantic in the opener, the fell flat against SMU.
The insertion (or rather inclusion) of Bryan Ellis into the offense has perked things up, as he has thrown for 360 and 373 yards the last two games, and it really changes the dynamic of any football betting advice that can be given on this game, with UAB pinning a loss on perennial Sun Belt power Troy and going two overtimes before losing to Tennessee. We respect what O’Leary does with his defense, but this is way too many points to be giving to UAB, especially if you don’t have consistent passing. Our football betting advice on this game is to be on the take with UAB in the college football odds for Wednesday.
