UTEP beat New Mexico last week 38-20 as quarterback Trevor Vittatoe threw 3 touchdown passes, 2 of them to Kris Adams. Adams had 5 receptions total with a 48 and a 49 yard touchdown.

The Miners accumulated 435 yards of total offense. They held University of New Mexico to 229 yards in total offense.

The only team Rice has beaten this year is now on their 4th or 5th string quarterback. They were only on their 3rd string when the Owls spooked them. This would help influence my Football Betting Advice against the Hooters.

The University of Texas El Paso has been revamping their defense so they can make a bowl game. It’s working, and now they’re in the top half nationally in the defensive categories. They have also won 4 games against 1 loss.

Miners Coach Mike Price pumped in fake crowd noise at practice at Thursday’s practice to prepare the defense for Saturday. Price said “The crowd will be loud for the defense.”

They’ve got running back Donald Buckram back in full health which may not sound like much, but to them that rounds out that balanced attack they need to take the Conference USA.

Rice has been in Conference USA five years, and last year Rice recovered two fumbles in the last 5 minutes of the game shading the Miners by a point for victory.

The Owls have scored on their opening possession 3 out of 5 times and UTEP has allowed its opponents to score on 4 out of 5 opening possessions. The Owls are going to have a hard time containing Trevor Vittatoe, and it’s going to be a lot of scoring.

The solid Football Betting Advice for this game is to take UTEP -9 ½ in a high scoring affair that doesn’t bode well for the Hoot Owls.
