Football Betting – Cornhuskers at Cowboys Contest

October 22, 2010

When my Football Betting involves Cornhuskers and Cowboys, one thing I know is there will be way too many Cowboy hats around for both teams.

These Top 20 Big 12 teams have a major game here where Nebraska hasn’t won since 1995.

Oklahoma State comes into this Big 12 showdown undefeated and hosting Nebraska after an ugly defeat at the hands of their hated rival the Texas Longhorns. Let’s face it – Texas owns them now.

The Cornhuskers Head Coach Bo Pelini is a Bo Idiotini for pulling Taylor Martinez last week in the 3 rd quarter of the Nebraska-Texas game.

“When you look back at it, I don’t know if that was the right thing to do,” Pelini said this week. Martinez remains the starting quarterback for the Huskers at least until he has a bad series. Bo knows nothing if he repeats that idiotic move.

The Huskers played a sloppy and unfocused game. They dropped two passes that would have definitely been touchdowns and a number of other easy catches. Tackling dummies could have stopped Texas more as nearly half of their rushing yards came after contact.

This fact doesn’t really hold as much water as the statement, but 2001 was the last time Nebraska defeated an AP top 20 team against No. 2 Oklahoma. My Football Betting advice says that streak should end here.

Brandon Weeden has stepped in for the Cowboys to do a crackerjack job in becoming one of the top rated pass efficiency quarterbacks in the nation. This is the week that efficiency gets deficient.

The Cowboys have averaged 361 yards a game aerially for 3 rd best in the FBS. The Cornhuskers are the top pass defense in the nation allowing a measly 117.0 yards per game.

We’ve got a serious head-to-head bang ‘em up about to go on in the Nebraska secondary here. Speaking of those Huskers that will be playing on Sundays next year, the secondary is on HIT…literally.

On the rushing side here, the Huskers rank 4 th in the nation gaining 302.2 yards. This is Oklahoma State’s strong point on defense allowing only 124.5 yards a game ranking 33 rd.

Nebraska will face a secondary like their scout team this week compared to Texas. The Longhorns have some defensive backs almost as talented as the Huskers do.

Oklahoma State hasn’t lost at home against Nebraska since 1995, and their last loss to the Huskers was in 2003. It’s possible that streak goes on, but this is a different Huskers team here.

Oklahoma State has been behind 3 times at halftime, but recovered each time for the victory. We’re going to find out.

My Football Betting skills here look at the matchups these teams have had. Oklahoma State has been impressive throwing the ball, but they haven’t faced anything close to this secondary. This could be a bumpy ride.

The Huskers are coming off a loss, and Bo Pelini is making them pay this week. Nebraska won’t lose this game. The point I keep coming back to is how many points they will take the Cowboys out by.

It always comes out way more than 6, so my Football Betting advice to you is to take the Huskers and lay the 6 points up to laying 7 for the WIN.
