Football Betting – Chiefs Bring Perfect Record With Them To Lucas Oil Stadium

October 10, 2010

Before the season got underway, most football betting analysts and media would have projected that if one of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Indianapolis Colts would be undefeated heading in to week five, that it would be the latter.

After all, as defending AFC champions and with all of those 12-win seasons, the Colts had transcended the line between great and elite as far as regular season play was concerned, while the Chiefs appeared to be a franchise in transition.

However, with the first quarter of the season winding down, it is the Chiefs that are rolling with a perfect three wins and coming off of a bye, while the Colts are stuck in a three-way tie for second spot in the AFC South at .500, alongside the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans, with the Houston Texans finally looking ready to contend for a playoff spot.

Kansas City Chiefs @ Indianapolis Colts

Sunday October 10th – 1:00 PM ET

Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Indiana

Broadcast: CBS

Football Betting Odds: Indianapolis – 7

Total: 44.5

While each team in the AFC South is .500 or better, the Chiefs have the Denver Broncos and San Diego Chargers to jockey for position with. San Diego is a notoriously slow-starting team, so it will be crucial for the Chiefs to maintain position with them early to avoid a late slide.

Football Betting: What The Chiefs Will Have To Do To Win

A strong running back tandem featuring Jammal Charles and Thomas Jones has helped spearhead the Chiefs to the third-ranked rushing offense in the league through the first four weeks of the season.

The sophomore Charles has led the attack on the ground with an average of seven yards per carry, with one touchdown, while Thomas Jones has averaged just over four yards per carry with a touchdown as well. With that duo opening things up underneath, quarterback Matt Cassell has had much more time in the pocket, which is why his yardage totals have consistently gone up with every week.

Kansas City will have to be much better on defense to keep their perfect record intact, as the 25th ranked pass defense will not be good enough against Peyton Manning and the Colts.

Football Betting: What The Colts Will Have To Do To Win

Despite having as many losses as they do wins through the first four weeks of the season, the Colts rank second in passing yardage, and should be as comfortable as ever moving the ball back home. Indianapolis opened the year with three road games in four weeks, and if the blowout win over the New York Giants is any indication, Manning and company will be ready to roll over the Chiefs.

Football Betting: Outlook& Pick

While Kansas City has looked good early on, this Colts’ team is as dangerous as any at home, and it will only be a matter of time where Manning shows why.

Football Betting Pick: Indianapolis -7
