Neither, the Baltimore Ravens or Cincinnati Bengals looked particularly overpowering in their respective regular season openers last week.

One big difference does exist though pro football bettors and that would be the fact that the Ravens won their 2010 regular season opener while the Bengals took some serious body shots before falling after a late comeback attempt.

Here is a look at the key head-to-head trends surrounding this contest.

  • Under is 4- 1 in the last 5 meetings.
  • Underdog is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings.
  • Ravens are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 meetings.
  • Ravens are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 meetings in Cincinnati.

Baltimore 411

  • Ravens are 7-0 ATS in their last 7 games in September.
  • Ravens are 11-1 ATS vs. a team with a losing record.
  • Ravens are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. AFC North.

The Ravens squeaked past the New York Jets 10-9 on Monday night to get their 2010 regular season started off on the right foot.

Baltimore covered the football betting odds as a 1.5–point road underdog in the low-scoring affair as Willis McGahee scored the game’s only touchdown on a one-yard run in the second quarter.

The game’s final score played well Under the 36.5-point O/U total as quarterback Joe Flacco went 20-for-38 for 248 yards and one interception while Ray Rice rushed for 43 yards on 21 carries and Anquan Boldin caught seven balls for 110 yards.

Cincinnati 411

  • Bengals are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 vs. AFC North.
  • Bengals are 7-3 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
  • Bengals are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games.
  • Bengals are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 vs. AFC.

The Bengals will be looking to bounce back from their 38-24 loss to New England in Week 1 but at least can take comfort in the fact that they outscored the Pats 21-14 over the game’s second half.

Cincinnati failed to cover the football betting game spread as a 5–point road underdog while the game’s final score played well Over the 44.5-point O/U total.

Analysis: I know the Cincinnati Bengals were overwhelmed in their regular season opener last week, but I’m certain they are going to cme out with a much better effort in this important early-season contest against their AFC North division rivals.

Still, I think the best wager for this matchup is to simply play the Under in what looks like an all-out defensive battle just waiting to happen.

Yes, I know both teams upgraded their respective receiving corps with some smart, veteran additions, but both of these teams feature two of the finest defenses in the league – despite the fact that the Bengals didn’t look like it last week.

I really like the Under in this game and the fact that the Under has gone 4- 1 in the last five meetings between these two teams seems to suggest that another Under outcome is almost inevitable.

The Under has gone 6-1- 1 in Baltimore’s last eight road games while also going 8-2- 1 in Baltimore’s last 11 games against AFC North ballclubs.

The Under has gone 4- 0 in Baltimore’s last four games against their AFC North division rivals 4- 1 in Baltimore’s last five home games.

These teams played Under the football betting spread in both regular season contests a year ago – and I expect more of the same in this contest.

If you want to cash in with a winning NFL wager pro football betting buffs, then your best chance for this game is to play the Under in what looks like a classic field goal game.
