Football Betting – Buffalo in Search of First Win Against Jacksonville

October 10, 2010

If you are placing your Football Betting dollar on the Buffalo Bills, I am truly sorry!

The Bills could be the worst team in the NFL on both sides of the ball and should prove it once again at home, on Sunday against a jacked up Jacksonville team.

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (2-2) vs. BUFFALO BILLS (0-4)

Following Jacksonville’s back-to-back 25 point losses, the Football Betting world had good reason to give up on them. Then Josh Scobee nailed a 59 yard field goal and rekindled faith in the woeful Jaguars. Now the team that has given up 40 points more than they have scored gets the honor of playing the brutal Bills.

Jacksonville was averaging 13.3 points per game before erupting for 31 against Indianapolis. The Jags now own the 24th overall offense – 26th passing and 12th rushing. It appears as though David Gerrard finally gets it. All he has to do is limit mistakes, manage the game and hand the ball off to Maurice Jones-Drew. Against Buffalo’s 32nd ranked run defense, handing off the ball maybe all that Gerrard needs to do.

Jacksonville’s defense has been brutal this season. They are currently ranked 30th overall and they give up an ugly 27.8 points per game. However, they will only have to be average this week to prevail. Is that too much to ask for?

The Buffalo Bills are 0-4 and have lost those games by a combined 64 points. It doesn’t take a Football Betting genius to realize that the Buffalo is in for a long season. The Bills only glimmer of optimism is the fact that they were able to hang with the New England Patriots a couple of weeks ago.

Buffalo has a miserable passing offense and has been unable to generate any space for any of their talented running backs. The only producer in the backfield, Marshawn Lynch, was traded to Seattle this week leaving Fred Jackson and CJ Spiller to pick up the pieces. With no offensive line, no threat at quarterback and no receivers – the prospects are grim!

The Buffalo defense has given up 68 points in the last two weeks. They gave up 444 total yards (273 rushing) to the New York Jets last week without forcing a fumble, an interception or even generating one sack.

NFL Betting Outlook:

Jacksonville is 2-6 S/U in their last six games and is an uninspiring 2-6 ATS in their last eight games versus the Bills. Buffalo is 2-4-1 ATS in their last seven games overall and 3-12 ATS in their last 15 games at home.

The Buffalo Bills are the quintessential doormat of the NFL. I hate to pick on them but it is so easy! Jacksonville is not great but the presence of Maurice Jones-Drew alone gives them more than enough to win this game.

Football Betting Pick: Jacksonville Jaguars
