Football Betting – Battle For The NFC West Cellar – Arizona at San Francisco
January 2, 2011
The Arizona Cardinals travel to San Francisco in a Football Betting Battle of the worst teams in the worst division in football. Ugly, I know! The Cardinals have won two of their last three games and the Niners have lost two games and a coach in the last two weeks. It should be an interesting affair.
ARIZONA CARDINALS (5-10) vs. SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (5-10)

San Francisco: -6 (-110)
Total: 38 points
The Arizona Cardinals have been playing good NFL Betting Football. They are 2-1 in the three games that John Skelton has started and they are coming off an impressive Christmas Day win against Dallas – a game they won without any help from Larry Fitzgerald. You can bet that Fitzgerald gets the ball more in this game.
Arizona’s offense has been a disaster. They are second last in passing and rushing offense – second last! They do look better under Skelton and will get a crack at a Dallas defense that has given up 28.5 points per game in December.
Arizona’s defense has been bad too! They are 21st against the pass (226.13 yards per game) and are 30th against the run (148.20 yards per game). This unit has the benefit of playing against a quarterback that knows his days in San Francisco are over!
The San Francisco 49ers are a Football Betting disaster. They are a total mess and with the firing of their coach Mike Singletary earlier this week, who knows where this team is at. Interim Coach Jim Tomsula has already guaranteed a victory! The man is either a genius or he’s insane.
San Francisco has the 22nd ranked passing offense (206.27 yards per game) and the 21st ranked rushing game (103.80 yards per game) in the NFL. The problem is that whether it’s Troy Smith or Alex Smith or even David Carr starting at quarterback – they will play knowing that there is no chance that they will be with the team next year.
San Francisco had a good defense but they have fallen apart. They are now 24th against the pass (233.07 yards per game) and are 7th against the run (97.93 yards per game). This unit has given up an average of 28.5 points per game in December.
Football Betting Outlook:
The Arizona Cardinals are 2-8 SU in their last 10 games and are 2-5 ATS in their last seven. They are 0-5 SU in their last five games on the road and are 1-5 ATS in their last six away from home. Against San Francisco, they are 2-5 SU and 1-5-1 ATS in seven games and are 3-11 SU in their last 14 games in San Francisco. They are 3-6-1 ATS in their last 10 games in San Francisco.
The San Francisco 49ers are 2-4 SU in their last six games and are 2-5 ATS in their last seven. They are 4-1 SU in their last five games at home. The 49ers are 5-2 SU in their last seven games against Arizona and 11-3 SU at home in 14 versus Arizona.
I just can’t see the 49ers being able to compete in this game. ALL of the wind is out of their sails. The Cardinals, although it s not saying much, are playing their best football of the season. I like the Cards to at least cover the spread in this one if not win outright. There are a lot of Cardinals playing for jobs next season but the same can’t be said for the San Francisco 49ers.
