MLB BASEBALL BETTING – Game Match-Up 6/2
Milwaukee Brewers vs. Florida Marlins 7:10 ET
Two teams headed in the opposite direction in the National League standings do battle for the second game of their series in South Florida when the Milwaukee Brewers (30-21, +$935) lock horns with the Florida Marlins (24-28, -$405). BetOnline customers will be able to dig into all of the great MLB betting action on this and all of the great sports betting contests on Tuesday night. Last night, the Fish took out the Brew Crew 7-4 behind a five-run sixth inning. SS Hanley Ramirez went 3/5 with a pair of runs scored, but the heroes of the night were the boys in Florida’s bullpen. Four pitchers combined to throw 4.2 scoreless innings to lead the Fish to victory.
Tonight, the oddsmakers have made the Marlins –115 favorites, while the ‘total’ has been set at 9.5 over –110.
Manager Ken Macha will trot LHP Manny Parra to the bump on Tuesday night. Save one miserable start back on May 22nd against the Twins, Parra has done a decent job for the Brew Crew this season. He may have an ERA of 5.57 and a WHIP of 1.73, but if you remove that 3.1 IP, eight earned run performance from the deck, his numbers are much more respectable (4.50 ERA, 1.62 WHIP). Milwaukee has yet to win one of Parra’s starts this season in which he didn’t get the victory. The southpaw has yet to throw more than 6.2 innings this season in a start. He beat Florida back on May 12th in Miller Park, throwing 6.0 innings and allowing three runs for the victory. The bad news for Milwaukee bettors is that their lefty has a lofty 7.22 ERA in his six away starts this season.
Florida will counter with one of its young gun arms on Tuesday in the form of RHP Anibal Sanchez. This is slated to be the first start for the righty since a May 7th loss to the Braves. ‘Under’ bettors are a perfect 6-0 in Sanchez’s outings this season, but that is more due to a lack of offense than proficient pitching. The Marlins have only scored an average of 2.83 runs per game for the righty this season, and have failed to score more than two runs for him in a game since April 16th. The facts that he has a 5.79 ERA and opposing batters are hitting .309 against him aren’t helping Florida’s cause either. If there’s good news for Florida bettors, Sanchez is 2-0 with a 2.84 career ERA against the Brew Crew.
That string over ‘unders’ is likely to end tonight for Sanchez. Three of the first four games between these two teams have eclipsed the ‘total’ this season. The Brewers seem to have recovered from a lousy stretch of offensive performances against St. Louis and Minnesota, as they have scored an average of 5.25 runs per game in their L/4. Expect to see an even better offensive performance tonight off of a pitcher that hasn’t had any success and has had arm troubles this season.
Rose’s Recommendation: 1* Over 9.5 -110 (Parra/Sanchez)
(Rating Scale: 1* – 5*)
