First Round Quandary – Who to Draft When

August 24, 2009

Over the last few days, I have been repeated asked who I would pick in the first round of a fantasy football draft if i was picking in position so and so. And its always hard to answer that question because it always depends on who is left to pick from.

Last week everyone saw how I would draft in a 12 team draft. Today I am presenting my top 12 picks.

  1. Adrian Peterson – AP has been the top RB last 2 years running, and with the return of Brett Farve it opens the Vikes playbook up.
  2. DeAngelo Williams – DeAngelo had a monster season last year and did you see him play in pre-season week 2.
  3. Matt Forte – Forte was the #1 receiver for the Bears last season and piled up the yards, lets see what he can do with a real QB.
  4. Michael Turner – was the work horse in Atlanta last year, but will the 376 carries he had last year add up?
  5. Maurice Jones-Drew – he is alone in the back field for Jacksonville this year.
  6. Steve Slaton – Houston is a team that is doing all the right things, I bet they are glad they didnt draft Reggie Bush
  7. Frank Gore – Gore will get his carries, but how effective he is all depends on how good the San Fran QB is
  8. LaDainian Tomlinson – He was hurt most of the year last year, but he is on the wrong side of 30 this year.
  9. Steven Jackson – Jackson didnt perform up to par last year, he will this year unless he wants to join Deuce McAllister and Shaun Alexander
  10. Tom Brady – with all of the top teir running backs gone, you have to go with Brady
  11. Drew Brees – same reason as Brady, in fact you could pick Brees at #10
  12. Larry Fitzgerald/Andre Johnson – 100 yards or 1 TD guaranteed 15 games out of 16.
