Fighting for their Lives – Philadelphia 76ers vs. Charlotte Bobcats
April 8, 2009
The Bobcats were one of the hottest bets in the NBA going in to last week. But then a double over-time loss to Boston put them in a spiral. They have since lost 97-94 to Miami and were crushed by Detroit when visiting Mo Town. Can they turn around their season and squeeze in the playoffs? The Bobcats stand three games back, and have had several day s of rest to prep for a showdown with the Sixers.
Philadelphia has been playing decently as of late, going 3-2 SU in their last 5 games. But their last game was Sunday, and a glaring 96-67 loss to Jersey has to have you wondering if they have the mustard to rally against a strong Charlotte team that is on the verge of snapping back in to form and gunning for the playoffs.
NBA Betting Trends
-Philadelphia is 5-10 ATS in their last 15 games against Charlotte
-Philadelphia is 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games against Charlotte
-Charlotte is 4-2 ATS in their last 6 games
-total has gone OVER in 4 of 6 in Charlotte
-Charlotte is 6-1 SU in their last 7 games when playing at home against Philadelphia
The trends certainly lean in Charlotte’s favor, and considering Philadelphia’s embarrassing display on their last road effort, I wouldn’t feel comfortable siding with the Sixers. They’re recent losing streak to Charlotte against the betting line is a strong indication that the Bobcats have their number.
Philadelphia 76ers (40-36) vs. Charlotte Bobcats (34-43)
Tuesday, April 7th — Time Warner Cable Arena, Charlotte — 7:00pm EST
NBA Betting Line: Charlotte -4.5 (185)
The OVER has been a penchant for the Bobcats as of late, and if you think the Sixers have the muscle to bounce back from one of the most embarrassing performances of the season, then think again. This team doesn’t have the reliable depth on the scoring side to penetrate a stiff Charlotte defense that is both disciplined and ranked third in the league when playing at home.
NBA Free Pick: Charlotte -4.5 (UNDER)
