FIFA Confederations Cup Semis – South Africa vs. Brazil
The Brazilians had a relatively easy path to the semis which they punctuated with an impressive win over defending World Cup champions Italy. Next up for the Brazilians is host nation South Africa and they go into this match as huge favourites to advance into the final. South Africa will have huge support but the bookies price this as a blow out in spite of home edge and a partisan crowd backing them.

Brazil impressive over Italy
The Brazilian national team has new life under Carlos Dunga and they are looking better now than they have for some time. Dunga rejuvenated the team by finding the right blend of youth and talent, complemented by experience. Big stars like Ronaldinho and his ilk did not make the cut – surprisingly – and his decision was questioned at the start. But as Brazil reaches the semis, winning all three matches and scoring ten goals, his decision looks like sheer genius. Brazil reaches the semis with victories over Egypt, Italy and USA. Their fine form sees them installed as firm favourites to go the final with Spain.
South Africa have much to be proud of
South Africa reaching the semis is a great result, especially as they will be hosting the upcoming World Cup. Their successful run at this year’s Confederations Cup gives hope not only to South Africa but also to all other African nations to do well at the World Cup 2010, possibly even go the distance – which would be a first in the history of the tournament. South Africa have shown their quality and potential by reaching the semis. But they still have room for improvement.
Soccer Betting Verdict: The soccer betting trend will favour Brazil. For obvious reasons: championship pedigree. And their successful campaign thus far. They are undefeated in this competition and few believe South Africa have the quality to hand the South Americans their first defeat of the tournament. Brazil at -400 is the smart play for the outright win. Over 2.5 goals is also a good play. We know Brazil can score so that is one reason why the over is a good bet. The other is the fact that South Africa will be playing at home. They will want to give a good account of themselves so I expect that South Africa will score at least once.
Soccer Free Picks: Brazil -400| Over 2.5 goals
