Favre Proves He’s a Liar and Signs with Minnesota

August 18, 2009

One of the most popular players in NFL history has decided to burn his cheese-head and pick up the horned helmet of the Minnesota Vikings.

Earlier today the announcement came that Brett Favre had indeed signed a one year deal with the Minnesota Vikings. The deal, for 12 million dollars, came on the heels of Favre saying less than a month ago that he was going to stay retired.

Most NFL fans, this one included, thought that Favre’s I’m staying retired speech was a sign that intelligence had finally taken over greed in the Mississippi boy’s mind and that he would indeed sit out this NFL Season. That turned out be the be the wrong thought as Favre not only has already signed the deal but is already wearing a Viking helmet today and throwing the football to Viking wide receivers.

What gives? First and foremost, Brett Favre has turned out to be a liar. Like the numerous sports betting touting services claiming that they have inside information when the only inside information gamblers are really likely to get can be found for free in the BetOnline Locker Room, Brett Favre has proven to be a schuckster, a scam artist, a liar.

My opinion of Favre has changed since this entire ordeal started. In the beginning, I had no hard feelings towards Favre. After all, if someone is going to shell out millions of dollars for you play for what will probably amount to three-quarters of a season or less, more power to you. If Brett can get a lot of money to play part of an NFL Season, then why not do it?

But now, I have to call Brett Favre a liar. He came out and publicly said that he was going to stay retired. But he didn’t. He signed with the Vikings.

Yes, Brett, I understand. 12 million dollars is a lot of money. But you said that you were retired. That’s what you said. So, you take the 12 million, but I reserve the right to call you a liar.

As far as the Vikings are concerned, their ridiculousness knows no bounds. 12 million to a guy who might have a broken arm and may or may not be effective for your team? Are you kidding me?

If the Vikings had that kind of money to spare, and obviously they did, then why not go for a proven commodity? Where were they when Jeff Garcia was on the market? Where were they in the Jay Cutler sweepstakes?

The Vikings held out for Brett Favre. Well, you got him. More power to you because I just don’t see you getting any better with Favre than you were with Tarvaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels under center.

As the old saying goes, “We shall see.”
