Based on the wagering lines on college football trends, the Cardinal should cover the spread.
- The Stanford Cardinal is 7 and 1 ATS in their last 8 games after allowing 170 yards passing in their previous game.
- The Stanford Cardinal is 11 and 3 ATS in their last 14 games at home.
- The Stanford Cardinal is 6 and 2 ATS in their last 8 games in September.
- The Wake Forest Demon Deacons are 1 and 4 ATS in their last 5 games on the road versus a team with a winning home record.
- The Wake Forest Demon Deacons are 3 and 7 ATS in their last 10 games following an ATS victory.
Stanford was terrific in their last victory, a 35 to 0 win over UCLA at the , last Saturday. The Cardinal squashed the 5 ½ point spread and could quickly become an ATS betting lines on college football covering dynamo should they beat Wake Forest by at least 18 points on Saturday.
The Cardinal D appears to be much improved after struggling at times last season. In 2 games, Stanford has outscored their opponents 87 to 17. The D is going to have to come up big on Saturday because although Wake Forest appears to be a cut below the Cardinal overall, their offense is absolutely fantastic.
Wake Forest has scored 107 points so far this season. That’s 107 points in 2 games. They average 322 yards per game on the ground. Against Presbyterian, in the first game of the season, the Demon Deacons put up 53 points and racked up 509 total yards. Against Duke, in their second game of the season, Wake beat the Blue Devils 54 to 48 and racked up 500 total yards.
Wake can move the ball. So, the emphasis is going to be on Stanford controlling the clock with their terrific offensive line and running game and getting some stops on defense against Wake’s powerful offense.
Can the Cardinal do it? I believe that they should, but I’m not so sure that they can. Stanford plays Notre Dame next Saturday. Their minds may not be on business this Saturday and, as good as they looked against UCLA defensively, the Cardinal did allow Sacramento State, a NCAAF sub-division team, to put up 17 points against them.
I like Stanford. They’re a very good team and QB Andrew Luck might be the best in college football, but Wake Forest has one of the most explosive offenses in the nation and they might find a way to keep this game to within a two touchdown margin.
I’m going Wake and the points in this one.
