November 2, 2010
If you need a glimpse in to where your NFL Week 9 picks should be leaning, then you’ve landed in the right section. As always, check the News Section for daily updates on all things Football betting related in the NFL.
NFL Week 9 Highlights and Lowlights:
- Brett Favre’s chin joins his private parts and his ankle on the “watch list” much to the chagrin of everyone that loves betting NFL football.
- Michael Vick makes his return against the powerful Colts defense.
- Can the Oakland Raiders notch their first three-game winning streak since 2002?

Week 9 Bye Teams: Denver, Tennessee, St. Louis, San Francisco, Washington and Jacksonville
As always lines are subject to change throughout the week and the home team’s are in CAPS.
BUFFALO BILLS +3.0 over Chicago Bears
Easily the momentum choice in NFL Week 9 picks, albeit one I might flip on later on in the week. Chicago is coming off a bye week, and Buffalo might be gassed after two overtime losses to the Ravens and Chiefs. If they’re going to pick up a win any time this season, it’s against Da Bears.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers +8.0 over ATLANTA FALCONS
If I could type in a pirate accent I’d say something idiotic like, “Thar be life in dem dar Bucs!” But it’s true. As good as Atlanta’s been throughout the season, I still like the Bucs to bust up a very reasonable spread by covering in garbage time during a loss.
DETROIT LIONS +4.0 over New York Jets
Think the Jets are invigorated enough after their loss to the Packers to be an NFL Week 9 Pick? Think again. If Clay Matthews can disintegrate their offensive line by himself, Ndamukong Suh can implode it in to primordial ooze. The Jets reign as a pretender comes to an end when they face Detroit, a team you simply can’t bet against when they’re at home.
Miami Dolphins +5.5 over BALTIOMRE RAVENS
Grinding offense. Terrific playmaking by the quarterback and the top receiver. A running game that can catch passes, bust up the middle and chew up the clock. These are all things we should be saying about the Ravens, but every word you just read describes the Miami Dolphins. They’re the most underrated team in the league and I’m buying in early for NFL Week 9 picks.
MINNESOTA VIKINGS -8.0 over Arizona Cardinals
This is the ultimate stay-away game. The Vikings have either checked out on Brad Childress completely after the insulting way he ditched (or at least tried to ditch) Randy Moss, or they’re going to play well in spite of him. I have no idea. All I know is that I wouldn’t take Arizona on the road in my NFL Week 9 picks if my life depended on it.
New Orleans over CAROLINA PANTHERS
Nobody’s touched the line on this game yet because we don’t know anything about Carolina. Expect this line to fall in the -10.5 to -14.0 area for New Orleans, but to get a real breakdown of this NFL Week 9 pick, you’ll have to check back to the News section later in the week.
HOUSTON TEXANS over San Diego Chargers
One of the worst teams to bet on the road visits one of the worst teams to bet when they’re at home. Either way, Houston won’t have the same problems against San Diego’s non-existent pass rush they did against Indianapolis. Check back on Andre Johnson’s status before you leverage an NFL betting Week 9 pick on this game, because he left the MNF matchup against the Colts limping.
New England Patriots -5.5 over CLEVELAND BROWNS
I don’t have enough information on Colt McCoy to properly levy a bet against a juggernaut like the Patriots. Air on the side of caution if you need to lay your bet down early, but don’t expect this to change. The public will jump all over this layup of a spread so if you like it, buy it early.
New York Giants -5.0 over SEATTLE SEAHAWKS
I know there’s this whole “don’t bet on Seattle when they’re on the road” and “don’t bet against Seattle when they’re at home”, but I love the way that the Giants force teams to make mistakes. The Giants can very much repeat the way Oakland suffocated Seattle’s offense, while Eli Manning gets up to his usual yard-infested performances through the air.
Indianapolis Colts over PHILADLEPHIA EAGLES
Michael Vick is ready to go, and no matter what I’m still taking the Indianapolis Colts. Clint Sessions has been a beast this season, and the Eagles break down along the offensive line far too easily which means that Vick might not last the entire game. I don’t ever like betting on a guy getting injured, but the rust will be there for Vick which is why you can’t trust your NFL Week 9 picks with him…yet.
Kansas City Chiefs +3.0 over OAKLAND RAIDERS
Get your head out of the clouds with Oakland. They beat the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks. The fans are celebrating their first two-game winning streak since 2007. You know how long it’s been since the Raiders won three games in a row? Eight years. Eight freaking years.
GREEN BAY PACKERS -8.0 over Dallas Cowboys
Go ahead and bet on Jon Kitna to cover in the 2010 NFL season. Actually, just save yourself some time and punch yourself in the nuts. That’s cheaper than making Dallas an NFL Week 9 pick.
Pittsburgh Steelers -4.5 over CINCINNATI BENGALS
Interceptions. Fumble recoveries. Passing. Rushing. You name a way to score and Pittsburgh will do it against Cincinnati as they take out their frustrations from Week 8 on the most overrated team in the country. The oddsmakers will wake up sometime mid-week on this line and move it higher, so get in on it now before the value is stripped from this NFL Week 9 pick.
