Unless something goes terribly wrong, the Hokies should earn their sixth straight Saturday when they play host to the 1-5 Duke Blue Devils. Let’s look at the line and see if the Hokies are worthy of putting in your ncaaf betting picks this week.

Virginia Tech Hokies        -26 -110

Game Total         61

Location: Lane Stadium – Blacksburg VA

Game Time: 12:00pm

We all know about the Hokies first two games of the season that killed their BCS hopes. They lost in the final minutes to Boise State and then in their second game they lost to James Madison of the NCAA Div II. The losses dropped them well out of the top-25 polls.

Since then, VT has won five straight and covered five games against the spread.

Their most dominating win came last week when they seven touchdowns in their first eight possessions to beat the Wake Forest Demon Deacons 52-21.

Hokies quarterback Tyrod Taylor has completed 62% of his passes for 1322 yards, 12 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.  He’s added another 480 rushing yards to lead the team.

Running backs Darren Evans and David Wilson have combined for 813 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns.

Defensively, VT is in the middle of the pack ranking no better than 51st in the nation in any offensive categories.

The Hokies defense gives Duke any hope over staying within the pointspread.

Quarterback Sean Renfree is completing 57% of his passes for 10 touchdowns but he’s also tossed 14 interceptions. His last five interceptions came in a 28-13 loss to the Miami Hurricanes.

Despite the bad interceptions numbers, Duke ranks 22nd in the nation in passing yards.

The Duke defense is bad, they rank 112th in points allowed (37.8), 110th in rushing yards (210.8), 75th in passing yards (223.7) and 101st in total yards given up (434.5).

When you are making your sports

picks consider including the Hokies. They should be a top ranked team except for the two let down games to begin the season. VT will run all over the Blue Devils Saturday and should score enough to cover the spread.
