Drop The Axe on These Players in NFL Week 3 Betting
September 22, 2010
It’s been another strange week in the NFL with teams still looking to find their identity. One team made it very clear who the face of their football team is going to be moving forward, and that was the Philadelphia Eagles. After hearing all week that Kevin Kolb is their guy, news from Andy Reid on Tuesday afternoon is that Vick will be the starting quarterback of the Eagles.
This screams upper-management pressure as Reid hitched his wagon to Kolb the day he sent McNabb to Washington, and was still giving Kolb the nod in Week 3 just 24-hours before this news came out. Regardless, with the way Vick has played so far, it doesn’t look likely that Kolb is going to get his job back anytime soon, and you have to start thinking about letting this guy go and picking up a guy like Alex Smith.

Drop – Kevin Kolb (PHI, QB)
Sticking with the quarterbacks, another guy that you should be giving the axe is Matt Moore. It’s not like he’s your starting quarterback, but you need a reliable fantasy backup in case something happens to your number one, and now that he’s been benched in favour of Jimmy Clausen, you need to find something better. I don’t know if I’d jump right on Clausen, as there is probably a guy like Josh Freeman out there that is a much better option, or even Sam Bradford who has at least developed some chemistry with his guys.
Drop – Matt Moore (CAR, QB)
The Giants have had some serious issues protecting their quarterback, and when you toss in a concussion to Kevin Boss, and that doesn’t make his stock very valuable at the moment. And in most leagues, there are a ton of very capable tight ends that can get it done on any given weekend sitting on that waiver. One of those guys that might still be there is Marcedes Lewis, who is quietly sitting in fourth position among tight ends in fantasy points this year. Dustin Keller is another guy that has strong potential considering Sanchez is going to play it safe with a lot of check down throws this year.
It would be one thing to let Boss go if he was healthy and just struggling, but considering he’s already suffered a concussion this year makes him tainted goods in the fantasy football world. Take a look on your waiver wire and just see what else is out there at the moment, I bet you can find a more reliable option.
Drop – Kevin Boss (NYG, TE)
Injury Update:
It was a tough week for Reggie Bush as not only did he have to give up his Heisman but he busted his leg in their win over the 49ers on Monday night. He’s going to miss at least six weeks, and although he’s shown he’s a strong flex spot performer and should earn an IR spot, you’re going to need a replacement.
Both Ryan Mathews and Michael Turner will be back in their starting roles heading into Week 3 action. Many people still went out and grabbed Mike Tolbert and Jason Snelling, but with both backs not showing any lingering effects, it should be status quo with the Chargers and Falcons starting backs.
