Detroit Ready to Add to Favre and Vikings’ Woes
September 26, 2010
The Detroit Lions, led by Megatron (WR Calvin Johnson) and rookie RB Jahvid Best, are ready to add to the Minnesota Vikings’ woes.
The Vikings’ woes have clearly been etched across the face of their 40-year-old QB, Brett Favre, in Week 1 and Week 2 this season. Favre, who only came back to play for the Twin Cities after some of his teammates begged him to, has found that there isn’t anybody that has the ability to catch his still lightning quick passes.
To bad for the Vikings that one of their chief rivals, and one of the most improved teams in the NFL this season, is coming to town and dying for a victory.

Minnesota Vikings +11 -110 -600 U 43 -110
The NFL spread betting trends favor neither team in this game.
- The Detroit Lions are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games after allowing more than 30 points in their previous game.
- The Detroit Lions are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
- The Minnesota Vikings are 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 games at home.
- The Minnesota Vikings are 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 games versus an NFC North opponent.
Everybody keeps talking about getting Brett Favre help at the WR position. Yeah, they need help because Sidney Rice is out and Percey Harvin always seems to have a migraine or some other issue, but how about this…how about Brett Favre make a good decision once in a while?
The Vikings should have realized that Brett gave them one of his best years ever in 2009. It’s like when Onion upset Secretariat. It’s only going to happen once, man! Favre will never be that effective ever again, Viking fans. The NFL spread betting odds are stupidly ridiculous for this game. Here’s a fact for you, what’s the main difference between the 0 and 2 Vikings and 0 and 2 Lions in this game?
The Lions are 2 and 0 ATS. Detroit has been golden so far in 2010. I expect them to be golden again on Sunday for a couple of reasons. First, the Vikings have to pay attention to RB Jahvid Best. He almost single-handedly took apart the Philadelphia Eagles last Sunday by catching 14 passes for 170 yards and a TD and rushing for 78 yards on 17 carries and 2 touchdowns.
By paying attention to Jahvid Best things should open up for Megatron down field. Detroit QB Shaun Hill threw 2 picks versus Philadelphia but he also threw 2 touchdowns and over 300 yards.
Detroit’s defense isn’t great but the Vikings are horribly one-dimensional. Expect Detroit to crowd the line of scrimmage and try and take away Vikings’ RB Adrian Peterson.
After studying this game for a while, it becomes apparent to me that the NFL spread betting odds are grossly exaggerated in favor of the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings have zero confidence going into this game and will have trouble guarding both Jahvid Best and Calvin Johnson. How exaggerated is the odds line? I’m not only going to take the points in this game, but I’m also going to back the Lions on the NFL spread betting moneyline.
