Oakland has won six games for the first time since 2002. If you remember, 2002 was also the year the Raiders made it to the Super Bowl. While they technically aren’t out of the playoffs, the Raiders will need a miracle to reach the playoffs as they trail both the Chargers and the Chiefs in the AFC West.
The Raiders were in a tie for first in the West until their bye week but after the bye, they’ve lost three of four games.
Their improvement this season can be directly attribute to their third best running game. The Raiders are gaining an average of 149.3 yards on the ground.
The fourth pick in the 2008 draft, Darren McFadden is finally showing his potential. On the season McFadden has rushed for 993 yards and 7 touchdowns. He’s added another 437 receiving yards and three more TDs.
The Raiders defense is solid against the pass but they still give up 23.6 points per game.
The Denver Broncos are trying just playing out the string after the collapse of the Josh McDaniel regime but one holdover from the McDaniel era may get a little extra burn Sunday.
Tim Tebow might get his first NFL start as Kyle Orton is nursing bruised ribs. Orton has taken a beating this year as his offensive line has let Orton take a sack 34 times plus countless knockdowns and bumps after throws.
Tebow will have to perform some offensive magic because he won’t get any help from the Broncos defense. The defense is allowing 150.3 yards per game on the ground and giving up an NFL worst 32 points per game this season.
Considering how well the Raiders have played against the AFC West, how many rushing yards the Raiders gain and the Broncos give up, taking the Raiders at -6½ is a no brainer.
NFL Betting Pick: Oakland Raiders -6½
