Denver Looks to Bounce Back in NBA Sportsbook vs. Sacramento

January 7, 2011

The Denver Nuggets will be looking to secure a victory, and hopefully cover the basketball betting odds in the sportsbook, when they take on the Sacramento Kings on Thursday, January 6th.

Denver, as -3 point favorites on Wednesday night, could do nothing right versus the Los Angeles Clippers.  The Nuggets simply blew it.  They lost 93 to 106 to one of the worst teams in the NBA.  Now, they take on another horrible team in the Sacramento Kings on Thursday night.  Can Denver bounce back?

Basketball Betting Lines

Denver Nuggets                        -4 ½ -110        O 208 ½ -110

Sacramento Kings                    +4 ½ -110       U 208 ½ -110

Check out some trends for this game.

  • The Denver Nuggets are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
  • The Denver Nuggets are 4-11-3 ATS in the last 18 meetings in Sacramento.
  • The Sacramento Kings are 1 and 5 ATS in their last 6 games playing on a day of rest.
  • The Sacramento Kings are 7-21-1 ATS in its last 29 games overall.

The Kings are 6-13-1 ATS at home and 9-22-1 against the online sports betting spread overall this season. SAC simply isn’t a good team, but they face a Denver squad that might be tired after having to deal with Eric Gordon and Blake Griffin on Wednesday night.

I’m not sure it will matter.  SAC is 3-6-1 against the spread in their last 10 games.  They covered a spread versus the still looking for an identity Phoenix Suns in a 94 to 89 straight up victory as 5-point dogs 2 games ago, versus the card playing Memphis Grizzlies 4 games ago in a 100 to 98 straight up win as 4-point dogs, and then the Kings covered a spread versus the New Orleans Hornets in a 91 to 94 road loss as 10-point dogs.

Sacramento is still averaging only 94.3 points and shooting 43.1% from the field per game.  The Nuggets are averaging 106.3 points and 45.9% from the field per game.  Because Denver played so awful against the Clippers, it stands to reason that they’re going to really step it up versus the Sacramento Kings.

Denver just beat the Kings 104 to 86 as -10 ½ point favorites in the bet on basketball sportsbook on January 1st.  Even though that game was a home contest for Denver, I don’t see much changing between these two on Thursday night.  The Nuggets won 4 games in a row straight up before losing to the Clippers on Wednesday night.  They should bounce back with a huge, huge effort versus the Sacramento Kings on Thursday night.

Expect Denver to come out scoring at will against a Kings’ D that gives up an average of 101.2 points per game and allows teams to shoot 47% from the field against them.  The Nuggets will cover the 4 ½ point spread in their game versus the Kings on Thursday night.

I’m backing Denver ATS vs. Sacramento on January 6th.

Basketball Betting Pick:  Denver Nuggets -4 ½ -110
